Beyond Reality: Fantasies, Dreams, and Possibilities.

So I had a weird dream last night, I dreamt that a group of teenagers or college age people were retro gamers who took a fancy to Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, we hear that one of these friends die so to honor this friend's memory they decide to make a Nintendo 64 DD Expansion of Smash Bros N64. Also in this dream one of they streamed and played classic video games like Metal Gear Solid through a Cable Provider by plugging in a USB Controller in the back of the cable box.

I say this because we've all had strange dreams like this one...well not exactly like that one but I was wondering what or if it meant anything, also what dreams have you guys had and woke up wondering just what happened?

if I had to recollect the most recent dream I had, it was of a scene overlooking a hill with some cheesy animu music playing like a credit sequence. dunno why, I never really watched anime back in the day.

It would be really twisted if this happened at someone's "end of their episode."

*Gets hit by a bus.*

*Cue Japanese bubble gum pop and a kanji credit-reel.*

How in the world did I miss this topic?!

Almost everything I write about or use for RP stuff, and even my dualing fursonas, are all based on my dreams and characters that I've either been, or encountered (often repatedly). I have enrire multiverses of dream content rattling around in my head. Hence, my tendency to reference the "Omniverse" (this encompases every possible and impossible reality, except for Heaven and Hell, which are beyond the limitations of Creation).

Most of my dreams come out sounding like old-school action movies. That's where Rick Tyger the character/fursona came from. He's a representation of my "inner wannabe Chuck Norris". Luna Yvhv is a character encounterd early on in my "Being Rick Tyger" dreams, and I simply added a few more-coherant details to her backstory and abilities. Rick's wife, Princess Jessica Wolf, was origionally named something else, but has otherwise remained unchanged from how she appears in my dreams. Her new first name comes from a girl I had a crush on all through middle and highschool, who seems to have moved away or otherwise dropped off the map. Queen Colleen Thy-Wolf and King Texarcana Wolf have not been changed in any way. I like the way they are in my dreams: Technically royalty, but really just country folk with fancy titles and supreme political power. The Shadow Hunters are also based on my dreams. They're the guys who go after people who're technically "above the law", and can even execute the royal family, should the royalty become corrupt. They're kept in check by the older retired Shadow Hunters, who (much like the Yautja) just get more badass with age. And what makes Thylan royalty royalty is the fact that they're elected as such by the Thylan public, and then allowed to keep the job for multiple generations, until they either become corrupt and are killed, or decide they've had enough and want to go back to being proper rednecks. The bigass deasert that the Tyger clan owns, the 13 inhabitable "Thylos" planets in their solar system, and their green sun and skys are all from bits and pieces of dreams, that I basically consolidated into a single idea and added a backstory to.

Vlad Yvhv and the Omnians came from my obsession with shape-shifters and dreams of being an "Omnianthrope" (now you know were "Omnian" comes from) who was neigh-immortal and able to kick ass on levels unknown to conventional biology. Morphing a hand into a biotech gatling gun that fires quills, for example. Or the classic "blade/harpoon arm" that resembles a cross between Krauser's Blade Arm from Resident Evil 4 and Heller's Whip Fist from Prototype 2... Or even just the ability to spit burning bio-napalm and be immune to heat and fire damage, due to dragon DNA. Vlad is, of course, named after my own favorite historical figure: Vlad the Impailer. His last name comes from the Muskogee word for "wolf", which ties in with my own long-standing obsession with wolves and werewolves. Before the dream variant of Vlad was an Omnian, he was a multi-shifter, and before that, a straight-up werewolf. Dreaming of being Vlad helped me overcome many a potential nightmare, and seems to have occured around the time I was 5 or so, when I developed the ability to lucid dream. He is very much the embodiment of my lucid dreaming self, combinded with my own will to survive (according to my medical records, I was close to death as a baby). He is able to shift to take advantage of most any situation, and to endure those which he shouldn't be able to "win". I first saw John Carpenter's "The Thing" when I was 7, and was surprised by the Things' similarities to my Omnians. Add in a re-writing of Vlad's origins to make him have been a dragon species before being assimilated and give him a giant neigh-indestructalbe SR-71 you've got the Vlad most of us know, and the Warwolf. Lyn came about as part of an RP that started in the Shoutbox of FUS and migrated to the 1000 pages topic. Origionally, she was to be the Warwolf's AI. When she bacame a Synth (short for "Synthetic Lifeform" [the idea being that they're tech so advanced that they go beond AIs and androids, into RIs {"Real Intelligence", packaged into an advanced machine like a quantum computer and unhidered by things like "programs" or "directives" or "the laws of reobtics"}]), I decided to make her a Thylan, say that Vlad had assimilated her creator and unlocked her mental potential, and give her a comperable roll to Luna (side-kick/sometimes character foil). Others liked the inteplay between the characters, so Lyn stayed and is now entwined in Vlad's life, as something akin to a step-daughter. Jed is just my take on the Dog-Thing from the movie (the name of the wolfdog that played that character was "Jed" [he also had a starring roll in "White Fang"]), as one of the survivors of the explosion at the end of the movie. The story "Thaw" is basically a re-working of his backstory. He's more antangonistic, since he's not actually an Omnian. Vlad's other crew are based on the unnamew wolf girl from the Sat-AM episode "Nobrainer", and of course, Lupe. And finally, we get to Lyn's robotic creations. Scorpio is the latest workign model, but also was the first prototype and once sided with Jed, due to a programming glitch (this is a shout-out to KARR from the Knigt Rider shows). He's a scorpion because I like scorpions. I've alwasys thought that the idea of a robotic scorpion makes sense: Heavily armored, stable mobility, use of tail for weapons platform and self-righting, and claws for manipulating and carying objects. And I really like the idea of Lyn (whose intended purpose is to destroy other machines) choosing to make robots as a hobby. Toaster is actually an ambulitory oven "junk-bot", created from scrap parts. Fridge is more aptly named, as a giant mobile refrigerator junk-bot on treads. While either can attack with their own elemental attacks, they are mostly programmed to collect useful parts and use their torsos to house items for Vlad and Lyn. Sentinel is a shout-out to the Sentinel Spheres of phantasm, but considerably less sociopathic and much larger (basketball sized). He's a tool-bot and serves as Lyn's side-kick when Scorpio's not active. And of course, we have Wolf, a feral RI created by Vlad to handle the operation of the Warwolf when he's either being lazy or away from the ship. I've always liked the design of the SR-71 Blackbird, so that's where the base design of the Warwolf comes from (an oversised SR-71 with the D-21 drone attached). The "drone" and necells house antimatter reactors, and the "drone" can be fired as an antimatter bomb. The Warwolf was named after a real-world weapon of war that was so massive and intimidating that it never had to be used (the enemies gave up upon seeing it). And it has a considerably larger and more stable verion of the black hole drive from "Event Horizon", which allows for interdimensonal and time travel.

As a shout-out to another of my real-world heros, Stepehen King (who has also said on occasion that his inspiration is often dreams), I usually try to some sort of connectivity between all of my works. And the fact that they're based mostly on dreams I've had actually tends to make it more likely that those connections can/will exist.

The "Phatasm" and "Terminator" movie seires were also inspired by their creators' dreams. So, it seems to be a fairly common occurance.

Hmm... personally I would either pick mobius because the only other places of video games are the worst places. (I.e. Rapture or Columbia from the bioshock series).

You mean the world where a man with plot armour and no intelligence is constantly trying to turn you into a robot? I would disagree.

I'd probably go for Unleashed-Era Earth. Lots to see and do, and you're not exactly going to die because Sonic will be able to save you no matter where you are.

Looks at the world during Sonic Forces

Well you clearly made the right choice. XP
Seriously though if Sega Sonic were to just nap at the wrong time the whole world is basically screwed, even then regarding something like Jackal Squad you'd have bands of Mercs all around not to mention GUN doing who knows what.

Although I suppose my choices wouldn't be much better, I mean going beyond reality you're gonna end up in a world that's gonna have a lot of problems by default on top of the ones our beautiful blue marble deals with (usually).

But I have to admit I would like to check out any Sonic World, but particularly a Mobius of sorts. Like the one from SatAM, STC, even Archie in either continuity would be cool to visit. I mean for one you'd be more likely to run into Sonic if you live or hang out in his usual place like Knothole or a Mobotropolis because the odds of meeting him anywhere else are slim to none. So Sonic's hometown would be my go to location regardless of how it's doing, although considering how the question asked here doesn't have us turning into a Mobian or whatever form would be average for that world I'd imagine there would be a few problems hanging out around the populous let alone getting in the actual town or kingdom or Knothole.

Actually getting to Knothole could be a bit difficult like getting lost in the Great Forest for days. Either way you'd have to give a good reason on why your there, I'm saying things would not be as easy as you'd think they'd be. If you were honest with them like "I'm lost and not from this dimension." I mean they might or might not believe you at first and there's no guarantee they would. Still it would be worth an attempt, no matter which Sonic World or Mobius I'd end up in I'd try to give out as much advice as possible and rather not try to end up in a fight (and fail), heck depending on what moment in time you end up in that could change things drastically. It would probably throw that world off balance but for Archie Sonic I can't possibly make either canon of that world any worse than it already was. I mean a fresh perspective is sometimes all anyone ever needs, and I think a lot of people tend to forget that.

Now Sonic aside I'd like to visit the Lylat System of Starfox that would be cool trying to fly an Arwing and being a member of Starfox if I could, the future of F-Zero would be sweet I'd love to try and actually pilot an F-Zero machine going hundreds of miles an hour going at Mark 1. Or go to any sort of Fighting Game World and watch the tournaments and get autographs, maybe try to learn how to harness Ki or whatever if I have the potential in that reality? The setting of the Super Mario Series would be fun if only to get a Fire Flower or fly with the Tanooki Suit. Gosh there are just so many places that you could visit if given the chance, maybe I can give out more examples later but yeah those are but a few places that would be awesome to visit.

Don't know if anybody remembers this cartoon but back in the 90s there was an animated series bases on the movie Jumanji where the story takes place inside of the game.  I would personally like to visit that world and just explore, survive, and have a wonderful adventure.

They just made a film of that, didn't they?

Oh, it’s nothing like the real Jumanji. They made a trash cash in think-tank of a sequel Lorax style. Ish is talking about the original - more actual early 1900’s  style adventure rather than exploding helicopters and forced video game tropes to appeal to a demographic of steryotypical millennials that don’t actually exists. Think Tarzan and Indiana Jones.

Aye, the series had it's own jungle/peril world that was pretty diverse with creatures and terrain.

I actually remember that cartoon series, I've never seen it on DVD or anything though which is strange as you'd think with this new film out by now they would release it already. Heard the new film is alright but still it just isn't the same. :/

Apparently the board game turns into a video game cartridge when the kid in the opening of the film dismisses it.

To be honest Columbia is beautiful as can be seen in this screenshot: IMG_0123.JPG.9760f53ce1948a1362891306f4122a54.JPG

However as far as values go, this is a place that sees Lincoln as "a great apostate" than an emancipator along with having Washington, Jefferson, and Franklin as deities. It's also exemplary of the racism and elitism of 19th and 20th century America especially amongst the "founders" of Columbia while the Vox populi hold up the mantle of cultural of Marxism and socialist ideals.

The worrying fact is that there probably ARE some people who want to live in a place like Columbia...

Depends on which Columbia, the Columbia ruled by Comstock and Jeremiah Fink where you have that elitism or the Columbia under Daisy Fitzroy and the cox populi whom war in the same spirit as Lenin and bolsheviks did in Russia. Both have ideals of utopia and both end in ruination.

I might be a bit crazy...but every time I think of this thread, the Spencer Mansion from Resident Evil and The Police Station from Resident Evil 2 comes to mind. So apparently I desire to go frolic in a hopeless doomhole of survival horror where unholy abortions of science stalk around every corner. xD

Eh, it's probably still better than living in Manchester.

It's funny how much beautiful fantasy places are inspired by real life. New Zealand has basically inspired not just the Lord of The Rings movies, but also Narnia's films too.

@Sorzo Tattoine still exists to this day in Tunania, North Africa. It's tourist hotspot. Which is good, because there ain't nothin' else there but dirt an' dust! 😅

Had a recent dream lately, it's quite odd so let me explain.

It was called "Welcome to Slide City", basically it was an ARG Video Series on YouTube where a Young Mother and her 8 to 9 Year Old Son are dealing with a Zombie Apocalypse Scenario. Apparently they were going to go to an in-door theme park or something like Chuck E. Cheeses (maybe it was called Slide City), only for this to happen.

Thing is though, it gets pretty weird as while it's perspective is the Son holding the phone recording all of their attempts to survive, there are no cars in the freeway or signs of riots and such.

It's like the world is empty, except for themselves, the zombies, and a man they call Guy. This dude just appears out of nowhere to help them out in certain moments, and vanishes just as fast as he arrives. He turns a corner for example, and then he's gone.

The Series ends (to my knowledge) with the Son getting bitten, for both our main characters to contemplate what to do (it gets dark to say the least), only for Guy and a friend of his to come out of an invisible,, mirror like door way to assist and take them...whereever they come from..

We get a Non-ARG camera shot from the sky as it pulls away from the ground, like someone was watching them, as a Zombie walks into the doorway. The last thing we hear, is Guy's panic voice "Don't let it get in here!"

Odd thing to note about the series, wild life is present, but not infected. All animals seem fine, like dogs, cats, cows, etc. Most noticeably are Birds, there are a lot of Birds hanging out on ledges, wires, and so forth. As in much more you'd usually see, like there was an overpopulation of such. But they don't ever attack our protagonist, it's like they're watching them.

Before the dream ended, I did some research on the ARG. Apparently there's a Let's Play that's connected to it that goes for as long as 47 parts (or more), and that Birds are a recurring topic for the LPers. Maybe the game they are playing has a lot to do with Birds? I don't know, as the dream ended.

It seemed real enough, like a recollection, so I looked it up and unsurprisingly, it doesn't exist.

It was a strange dream, but maybe you guys will like this post, let me know what you think.

I don't know how to explain my dream that month, somehow that's just what it cooked up.

Maybe it was a lot better than what I remembered and I missed out on a lot of details, OR I just explained it horribly. It seemed like a follow up would have been far more interesting if it took a far more Sci-Fi or Fantasy Twist to it. XP
