http://shc.sonicresearch.org/sonic/ Coming soon this year and as always hosted by Sonic Retro and SSRG (Sonic Stuff Research Group) is the annual Sonic Hacking Contest! This is a contest that's been held every year where anyone can submit Sonic Hacks and show them off, this also applies to 3D games like Sonic Adventure and of course Sonic Generations, the most common hacks come from the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic games Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and S3&K. That being said you should only play these hacks if you have copies of the games they use when it comes to legality of them, though with that Sega Mega Drive Steam thing Sega has they allow for hacks to be played on there, they don't mind hacks at all, after all the devs of Sonic Mania were making Sonic Fan Games and Hacks for years after all. That said this topic will always be up for when this comes around every year, so be patient and wait for this year's hacking contest to go underway, I'm looking forward to the complete version of Pepsi in Sonic 1.
https://github.com/Rubberduckycooly/Sonic-1-2-2013-Decompilation Wanted to share this with all of you, it's a fan project that allows you to play the Christian Whitehead Android Ports on PC and other consoles. It allows you to doggle options such as having 7 Emeralds in Sonic 1, Insta-shield, Drop Dash (a new addition), and more much more easier to go with save files of your choice. Just some good quality quality of life changes, plus mods! It's similar to what Sonic 3 A.I.R. did some time ago, and I'd highly recommend you to check out the best ports of Sonic 1 & 2. All you need is the Android ports themselves and you are good to go, which are very cheap and easy to find. Edit: Broadened out the topic more so.
http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/SAGE/2016/ Should have posted this when the event started, but this my friends is the topic for SAGE, an event that happens every year or so where fans can share their own demos and fan games with each other, most of these are Sonic Fan Games while sometimes you'll have a few other types of fan made or original games as well, as of this post I'd recommend you check it out now as this is the last day to see it, though usually there are always mirrors for SAGE and you could possibly check out a few previous SAGEs if you look them up. I'd recommend checking out the 3D fan games this year, especially the surprise upcoming fan game Sonic Utopia, my favorites this year are 3D Classic Sonic Adventure, Sonic Round 7, Sonic Boom and the Smash Crew, Sonic Generations: The Lost Zones, and a few others as well, it's been a good SAGE this year. So check out these games right now guys and enjoy, special thanks the the guys over at SFGHQ and Sonic Retro for always setting this up, I'll be keeping this topic up from here on out for future SAGEs so keep an eye out for this topic every year or so, till then happy SAGE everybody!
