Mike Arcade Posted November 20, 2016 Share Posted November 20, 2016 The Genesis of a Hero Story Arc looks like it covers and abridges Sonic 1, 2, CD, and S3&K, though from the covers you can see that's obvious. I will say this though, they should have just started the Reboot with this in the first place or continued from Sonic Genesis. Instead we got an adaption of Unleashed with New Versions, basically new characters who we don't know, I'd say it's like watching Memento but at least Memento played things in an Order rather then just jumping around from the past and present at random. And don't say them catching visions of the Old World makes them the same characters, it doesn't and they can't legally build off of that possible story arc, that and it's been said Word of God style by Flynn that they end up forgetting those glimpses of the Pre-Reboot. I'm aware I've said that before but not on the forum, though the first issue of the story left much to be desired and the way it changed things (Having King Acorn, albeit possessed by Naugus but still, and the would be Freedom Fighters only NOW doing something) seem to be an antithesis regarding the story and character arcs of multiple of the main characters. Example being King Acorn being rescued so early eliminates a MAJOR Character Arc for Sally Acorn that was rather a big thing in both SatAM and even Pre-Reboot Archie Sonic, that being the mystery and search for her father. I don't mean to sound negative, heck when this Reboot started I was completely open and fine with it, but it seems like for our intended protagonists their character arcs seem to be taken away and/or prevented rather then expanded upon, I don't know if there's a term to mean Anti-Story but that's the closest phrase I can think of regarding this, it's bizarre really. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The other has Blaze, Bunnie, Marine and a another new character (Null). In the first "issue", Sonic and Antoine are in an ancient castle that apparently is connected to Antoine's past and a some powerful sword. They end up noticing that someone has been there through vandalized paintings, leading them to find Eggman's symbol in one of the castle's rooms. There, Cortez appears and fights both. Sonic and Antoine doesn't seem to be able match for Cortez (and his apparently magical sword), but during the fight Antoine finds the other sword he was talking with Sonic (along with his ancestor's cool cape). Antoine returns and fights Cortez and is able to win. The other comic starts with Marine talking to Bunnie as Marine is (somehow for some reason) holding the Jeweled Scepter. Then they find Blaze fighting some mini-Nulls. Marine hides as Bunnie goes help Blaze (via Iron Man beams on her robot hands). The mini-Nulls eventually gather and fuse to form Null. Null shows to be in equal foot against the duo and seemingly tells something to Blaze. As the fight goes, Null throws goo/flames/idk on Bunnie that scrambles her robotic limbs, but she is able to fire a last but stronger beam that hits Null's head (boom headshot) and defeats him. Bunnie's robot limbs seem to be succumbing to the damage but they (somehow) resist. I mean I think the idea of giving Antoine an awesome sword and stuff being a family heirloom is kinda weird but still. Seems like they were going to make Antoine much more cooler than he initially was and I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's kinda like they were trying too hard on that one but Cortez seemed pretty cool. Safe to assume that Null is some sort of Sol Zone equivalent to Mephiles or Eclipse, design seems a bit plain to be honest but not bad. I mean hey it would have filled out her world a lot more which is basically Sonic World 2, though giving Bunnie some spotlight to be cool is always nice. Although I'm more curious on what was going on in Sonic Universe 96 with that Null girl and what she is, since she seems like a 2nd Mephiles kinda like that one SIlver story had that Second Devourer similar to the Time Eater. Imagine that, but with Tails. According to this old source circa 2001, via Ken Penders, an idea came about that the Tails we knew in the comic actually came from another zone as a baby, one which didn’t have Sonic. Mind the glaring plot holes in this, but it sounds too wild to not be a fabrication. Especially coming from him. Hopefully, we can talk about unused concepts and use other forum topics like before.
