ByTor, Prince of Ro’den
Most people today might not remember this little video, but its implications and creation have had a profound impact on independent artists and internet media. This was the opening ceremonies video put together for the 1983 Diacon IV Science Fiction and Comic Book Convention. Whilst the idea of mixing animation and music was not a new thing, even amongst otakus and comic book fanboys, this was one of the ones that did everything right and captured a lot of people's attention. Interestingly enough, this was new animation done by 12 people and apparently no royalties or permission was paid to content owners. Whilst copyright issues made official U.S. release impossible, it made animation history and helped to promote animé and bring the genre to a much wider audience.
