Coming soon this year and as always hosted by Sonic Retro and SSRG (Sonic Stuff Research Group) is the annual Sonic Hacking Contest! This is a contest that's been held every year where anyone can submit Sonic Hacks and show them off, this also applies to 3D games like Sonic Adventure and of course Sonic Generations, the most common hacks come from the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic games Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and S3&K. That being said you should only play these hacks if you have copies of the games they use when it comes to legality of them, though with that Sega Mega Drive Steam thing Sega has they allow for hacks to be played on there, they don't mind hacks at all, after all the devs of Sonic Mania were making Sonic Fan Games and Hacks for years after all. ;)

That said this topic will always be up for when this comes around every year, so be patient and wait for this year's hacking contest to go underway, I'm looking forward to the complete version of Pepsi in Sonic 1. xD

As a follower of a YouTuber named SomecallmeJohnny for years now, and seeing him stream SHC 3 times already, as well as the entries for this year in particular, I can safely say I'm am well hyped for this year. Especially knowing that I'm gonna be doing LOTS of memes for Johnny this year, assuming if my already busy schedule makes up for it...

It's that time of the year again as SHC 2017 is underway, they're still accepting entries until the 29th so if you know anyone who has a hack or mod and is interested let them know. There's more info on the site but there's quite a few changes with more quality control now so who knows what'll happen.

Anything you guys are excited for in this year's hacking contest? Let us know and we'll let you know when the contest begins!

Thought I shared this already but apparently didn't, an entertaining trailer for this year's hacking contest, which did in fact conclude and here are the results from Tails' Channel.

As you can see Metal Sonic Rebooted ended up winning best overall hack with the Hidden Palace Trophy (1st Place), I should mention that it also has a 1.1 version now available and easy to find. It was a great SHC this year with some very surprising entries, my favorite have to be Metal Sonic Rebooted and Sonic & Ashuro. I'd love to play Sonic Redux due to how much they added in Sonic R. It's quite amazing what fans can do nowaday huh? ;)

If anyone doesn't have anything else to say I'll see you back in this topic next year folks.

Good news everyone! As SHC 2020 is underway, Sonichacking.org is now archiving as many entries as they can from past years. So far, they've got entries from 2012 to 2019. There are some that are missing, but it's still nice they are doing this. In hindsight, this probably should have been done a long time ago. XP

In any case, enjoy these entries from the past as I'll bring you news of SHC 2020 in the future. Stay tuned!
