As for #2, I liked how sea3on introduced knuckles, and would be 100% down with seeing some of the other characters the series has produced introduced into SatAM so long as it can be done organically. To me this means reworking the backstory's and motivations to fit within the world of SatAM, without making them steal the spotlight away from what has already been established prior.

Almost forgot, as a little addendum maybe we should make a thread about how we'd re-introduce characters across the various continuities

  2. I played it for like a couple minutes, died multiple times for dumb reasons, and decided to get go'in while the go'in was good rather than suffer till I eventually become so numb as to git gud and loathe everything about anything. (still made for a good joke at work though:IMG_20160826_153224.jpg)

Okay, more sprites done. This time for Miki (yeah, I know, the side sprites aren't the best, but it's what I've got so far)

    Miki: Miki (Front).gif Miki (Diagonal).gif Miki (Side).gif Miki (Back Diagonal).gif Miki (Back).gif

They're not that bad, a few tweaks and adjustments here and there on the side views and she'll look fine.

  4. Well I've been pretty absent from the art scene as of late, (and in that absence I still haven't drawn more knightly sonic sadly) so without further adieu here's some redesigns of mixed reception characters:

First up is a picture I've already posted to deviantart a while back that I feel should both make up for not doing anything at all and deserves a mention here:

    Scan_20160807.png

Amy rose with bike shorts, which solves the problem most people have with the continuous upskirting via her terrible dress design (though that shouldn't really be a sticking point as classic amy didn't even wear anything at all underneath her dress)

And second up is a combination of both a (not sure but I believe is legit and completely surreal) concept sketch of BOOM! Eggman and the infamously unoriginal villain for blaze; eggman nega:

    Scan_20160824.png

Decided to name him after SatAM's version of robotnik (as nega was always more deranged then eggman if memory serves correct), if official sega Robotnik's name is Ivo Robotnik with eggman as a nickname, then Julian Nega makes for a good hat tip in my opinion.

  5. geez there's so many to choose from!!! well I guess I gotta start with legend of dragoon

me and my brother used to sink so much time into this game, and initially we couldn't beat the stupid shrine of shirley's amazingly simple statue puzzle on disc one, and nearly never beat (insanely OP) lenus on disc two, but it was always a blast to sit back and play.

I think it's safe to say that, if they choose to behave like that over what is basically a mediocre video game, they deserve all the harshness they receive at this point. When you send someone death threats for merely reporting on a game's delay...yeah, you deserve the critical mauling your precious game may get.

I agree whole heartedly, same goes for fans of any franchise who choose to conduct themselves with such toxic attitudes.

I think the above deserves some thoughtful responses. Does any have any commentary on each other's answers?

I will allow someone else to go first. :)

Alright, might as well go first then.

When you stated that storm and vanilla were bland and one note, I initially agreed until it hit me like a sack of bricks how good and utterly tragic vanilla COULD be in SatAM, especially when you examine what is known about her as a character. She's a single mother who coddles her daughter, now add that to the SatAM setting, why would she still act like that? To preserve her daughters innocence in a harsh and unforgiving world, mainly as she's the last thing that truly gives her a reason to keep going. Now add to that her husbands probably dead/roboticized and the world she once knew is nothing more than the memories of days gone by, and her actions are now that of someone broken and stuck desperately clinging onto whatever sense of normality they can attain.

On another note, I like X93's idea of a 4-parter, however I'd save it for an epic series finale rather than an opener. That being said I still like the idea of having some focus brought back to those key events, like the fall, bunnies partial robotization, who found tails and where, and the freedom fighters finally delivering the first blow to Robotnik's empire that sets the tone for the series.

  9. Well the first thing would be not forsaking everything the characters already have established for a single iteration (such as making 06 the be all end all for the characters), exploring their world's (or if it's based in a particular continuity, blazes peninsula and silver's future) and using them to their full potential is what always impresses me, and then if someone can organically link them (such as silver's reason for going back in time, and blazes reason for opening up and subsequently trusting silver) then I can dig it.

This seems to be more about location than character. If we merged their stories and universes, which fan-fictions can indeed do, would you be for it?

Depends, doing it just cause 06 and the adventure effect is my main gripe, but I am a little more biased towards no unless it can really wow me.

  11. Well here's another gripe that bugs the heck outta me; the incessant need to pair blaze up with silver in most stories. Not only is it nonsensical from a storytelling standpoint (just one of many reasons why 06 is not very good), but it's a disservice towards both as characters. Silver can and has been shown to be capable of holding a story on his own, while blaze has her entire world/universe left to explore. By forcefully putting them together, either blazes world gets forsaken for silvers bad future as she's demoted to sidekick, or silvers bad future and motivations get put in limbo as he just all of the sudden exists at blazes side with no explanation as to why.

  12. The first thing that I would change would maybe start by making the over-world system more akin to that of Legend of Dragoon, where the majority of encounters are random. expand upon locations like green hill, central city, and the likes by making them more lively.

now the story was fine, four discs is fine, not much to say here other than making it a psp exclusive for internal memory/memory cards so that the sequel can continue from the prequel. and maybe making it more of a SatAM affair like authar said, or more of an Archie one if they were able to attain the rights, not ditching all the sega cast (some but not all) while supplementing it with the strengthened worlds these continuities presented.

I'd do much of the same as what Traveller said when it comes to chracters, barring the removal of Amy (as I would make her an optional addition like cream whilst having Gemerl take her place in the story) and changes to Shade's heel turn (you should have the right to pull a lol-no moment here just to be especially cruel for fun).

lastly make the music polished and legitimate remixes, no baby's first midi playing through a potato.

Todd Howard wanted to do Oblivion as well but the assets needed to remaster Oblivion werent there and they would have to move everything onto the new engines and he wasnt sure how well everything would translate over. Plus they said they are working on 2-3 new projects as well so they were stretched thin. Reason why they are doing Skyrim was because it was used as a technical exercise they did to test out the X1 to see what the Next Gen consoles could do so it was essentially already ready to go.

And to be honest, I didnt like Oblivion. But I attribute that to the fact that Skyrim was my first Elder Scrolls game and I think that kinda ruined it for me

Yeah, it's probably the easiest to do. A shame they couldn't go for remakes of the older ones though.

I liked oblivion, but it's gameplay is definitely inferior to skyrim.
