  1. I've been considering two different endings for the game, actually... The portal the monsters came from leads to a very corrupted world. I don't really have a name for it yet, and I'd like to brainstorm that with you as well, but I do have an idea for it. Basically, any ideas and even assets that were (and could be) scrapped from the game, could make up the land in that world. However, the game kinda shifts to a darker tone there. Since the monsters LIVE there, and see the characters as a threat, instead of wanting to just possess then, they actually want to KILL them, since the final boss lives there, and they know our protagonists are here to find the source of the X-Tra Dimension going rouge (after all, it IS the last area). Plus, at this point, there's really no point of return until after the final boss, who is currently unnamed at the moment. Now, here's my idea for two different "endings". Basically, after the characters beat the final boss, I've been thinking of a Metroid-ish escape sequence where the characters have to escape the corrupted land before any point of exit will be lost. The Good Ending is them escaping back to the X-Tra Dimension and living their lives happily, as everyone's back to normal. The "Bad Ending", which is actually a game over sequence, is if they DON'T escape in time. Basically, everybody's back to normal, but are saddened due to the fact that the characters pretty much sacrificed their lives to save the day. Luckily, with that ending, it works like a game over sequence, so you get to start over from the escape sequence. What do you think? Did I go a little too far in detail?
  2. I also forgot to mention, each character has their own health bar.
  3. 1. Since the story's mainly focused on these 3, and since it's an RPG, technically yes, they're playable, though I'm actually coming up with a fourth character to join the party later on... 2. The differences between the characters are basically their stats. Miki, being the lead, has her stats balanced. Sure, she has the most usage of magic, but she's decent enough for attacks as well. Bosko, while knowing a bit of magic himself, is a bit more on the defensive side, since he's her main partner throughout the game. Phineas, on the other hand, is more on offense, since he doesn't know any magic, but can use a variety of weapons, including a laser gun he built from the beginning (as I said before, he's the equivalent to Jeff from EarthBound). 3. Since the game is an RPG, health will probably be displayed through numbers and such. And yes, similar to a lot of RPGs, there's a lot of ways to heal, either through Miki's magic, or healing items such as food or drinks. As for characters falling, basically, if one character falls because they're out of health, there are ways to revive them, either through magic, or the overworld. However, if ALL party members fall because they get damaged too much, it's an instant game over.
  4. Basically, to us, the player or any developers, these monsters are basically just sentient bugs or glitches, with a purpose. Their ability to "reprogram" a being is essentially possessing them through some means of mind control. While the people they possess still have their personality, so they don't seem like mindless robots, their intentions all switch to attacking Miki, and the other characters. At least, that's what I've got so far...
  5. Thanks! I'm mainly looking for voices for the main 3 characters at the moment, though, so it might be a while...
  6. 1. Technically, yes. Mind you, it's deserted, but it still kinda counts. 2. Reprogramming is a natural ability for the monsters. After all, that's their purpose, other than trying to hurt and possess Miki, and possibly the other two...
  7. Thanks man. I'll see if I can message you later on.
  8. Thanks, man. I'm not sure how we'll reel 'em in with such a ridiculous game concept, to be honest. I mean, I've been struggling to fine a type of voice for even each of the main characters...
  9. Welp... I did it anyway...

  10. So, this is just something that ties into X-Tra Dimension in terms of voice acting, since a few people have wanted to throw their hats in for voice acting. If anybody's interested to voice act for the game, let me know here, and I'll probably message you, or something. If you wanna know about what X-Tra Dimension is exactly, the link to THAT topic's right here: I'm really curious to see how far this'll go, honestly. - jcbluejr01
  11. Should I open up a voice acting topic for X-Tra Dimension? I know quite a few wanna do voices for the game now, and I'm really curious to see how far that'll go, but I'm still wondering if I should...

  12. I was actually considering using RPG Maker for the game, since it looks easier to work with. Not exactly sure how to kinda replicate EarthBound, without being EarthBound though... As for voice acting, seems like you and VHS are pretty interested in doing that for the game, so I'll let you know if I ever plan on including voice acting...
  13. Thanks for supporting me, man. If there's any role in development you wanna help me out with, let me know. Huh... I honestly thought I was the only one that noticed that I accidentally started a double post. Thanks for fixing it!
  14. I'm thinking of having the game begin with her coming into the X-Tra Dimension through a rocket ship, with the already possessed residents successfully shooting it down, causing it to bring her into Bosko's world through SOME means of "re-programming". This is also how she meets him BTW...
  15. Unaware of EB's mechanics, I see? I can explain that. PSI in EarthBound is essentially what magic spells are in regular RPGs. Basically, they're special abilities, such as a fire attack, an ice attack, to defensive maneuvers, like a shield or boosting your stats for a bit. You know, the good stuff. How the monsters know Miki uses magic though was kind of an accident, as in another world, she accidentally used her magic as self defense against someone, and suffered the consequences, such as the people she knew before, driving her out where she lived before, all the way to the X-Tra Dimension.
  16. I'm kinda split on both to be honest. It feels scripted like a game, but at the same time, for most of the game, the characters aren't exactly aware of it, until the last area at least, if that makes any sense...
  17. As far as I've got, the real reason they wanna hurt Miki specifically, is that she's practically a master of "Magic". "Magic" is essentially this game's equivalent to EarthBound's "PSI". The monsters wanna take advantage of those abilities to spread their reign across the X-Tra Dimension, or from our eyes, corrupt ALL of the game.
  18. Oh no, they're visibly real to everyone. They're just made out of code.
  19. I meant something more like enemies/monsters made of b&w binary code or something, I dunno. I haven't gotten any ideas for designs yet...
  20. I guess you can give me ideas, since I'm kinda stumped with that lately...
  21. And finally (for now), Phineas, who BTW, is essentially the Jeff of the group. Phineas:
  22. Okay, more sprites done. This time for Miki (yeah, I know, the side sprites aren't the best, but it's what I've got so far) Miki:
  23. I understand those rules. I was just wondering if animated GIFs actually worked on a site like this. Guess they work just fine. And the black and white style is specific to Bosko only, as his design is actually supposed to be based off old 1930s cartoons...
