  1. That I'm aware of. If I may say so, they're a little bit...delusional.

No, what I'm referring to is rumours that someone in IDW is trying to add politics into the comic and are getting into fueds on Twitter about it with people. Don't know who, though some say it's Flynn behind it. Apparantly he's had a history of doing this...supposedly. It's probably made up, for all I know.

Actually on reflection, it's probably hogwash. Probably just bitter Archie fans sad that Sally is basically gone now.

Why didn't Silver go further back in time to the point of the first few issues of Archie Sonic?

That depends on wherever or not he knows exactly what caused the events that led to his future. If he had a hard time tracking them down at the time they happen, why would he go even further back to an extent where any number of possabilities lead to the one event that leads to his future? He could mess up and change the wrong thing and then screw things up even further. The so-called Butterfly Effect.

Alongside that, the 16 million cosmic rectons that happen in the comic's history very much means that whatever beginning the comics had when it started, it sure as hell isn't that anymore. Who knows what further changes have been made (regardless of wheverever or not it follows the game "story" closer, as the Shattered World saga shows even then it didn't happen in the order it did for us).

But first! We all wanted to ask you to share your personal experience of Satam and how its positively affected you.

I...don't really have much to say. I wasn't around for it. I watched Underground, instead. Kind of goes to show how much SEGA really thought of it when Underground was its replacement. While I don't love SATAM like a lot of older fans do, I do still appreciate what it tried to do, where it succedded, and where it could have been improved upon in later series. I just...don't really think of it as much as everyone else. It IS the best Sonic cartoon to date, still...not like that's saying much.

I do think it's pretty sad that SEGA seemingly wants to forget it ever existed. Not even a mention on their Twitter page. I mean, really think about that. The 10th Birthday of Sonic 06 got a mention, kiss scene and all. As if we needed another reminder of that a full decade on. But the 25th birthday of something people actually, genuinely enjoyed? Nothing. That's gotta sting.

Hooters in Japan is apparently a bit different than the one in the US

It's still using oversized mammory glands and small amounts of bodily cloth to sell supposedly terrible chicken wings coated in a spiced sauce. I'm not exactly sure HOW different it can be when that is the general concept behind it.

Of course, that said, how does it differ in Japan?

Why was that necessary for the game manual in Japan? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It does provide an interesting, abet very strange, characteristic for Blaze.

Ooooooooooh yes, that's actually been known for a good long while. Kind of goes without saying that it's not close to canon at this point, but it also goes without saying that some fans took "Blaze thinks her breasts are too small" and ran with it far across the hills. All fine and dandy...until you remember that Blaze is only 14. Is a 14-year old really supposed to be worried about something of that nature? Is this just another Japan-only thing or are SEGA into some rather weird stuff?

  6. I must say, I'm REALLY impressed with Sonic Advance Remastered. Seeing that old art style again reminded me of why I loved it so much. I hold more nostalgia for those GBA sprites than I do any of the styles from the Genesis games...even if I'm a little bitter that they used the Sonic 2 style in Mania over the Sonic 3 style. I mean come on that looked so much better. Regardless, those Advance/GBA Sprites were THE sheets to use if you were making a sprite comic/movie in the early-to-mid 2000's. Simple, flexible, incredibly easy to edit and yet so eye-catching. The perfect starting point for some sprites.

Anyway, the game's pretty good too. I actually really like that Sonic has the Drop Dash from Mania. If there's one thing I do genuinely like from Mania, it's that move. I also like that it's the same stuff but with the modern conveninces of the platform. The controls are better, it runs smoother and best of all, it's in wide-screen! I can actually see what is going on in front of and/or behind me now! Also, I must admit, I also really like that you can play as Blaze and Shadow and Cream. Blaze in particular plays like she's still on the DS circa 2005, boost and all. I must admit it kinda, sorta...completely breaks the game in two. But that's why I love it. :D

  7. Ooh, I've got one!

I...don't like Sonic Mania. I mean, I just sort of don't. I mean don't get me wrong the game by itself is fantastic, it's everything a Classic fan could want. But at the same time, I hate the culture around it. The cyncism is astounding, and the people parroting the same old "Sonic doesn't work in 3D" and "This is the best game since 1998" rehetoric is beyond irritating. One guy even went to so far as to say it was Sonic's redemption. I was actually a little offended by that. That this little retro game made by fans beat the actual paid team that is paid to make Sonic games after years and years of medicore if not outright terrible games. That it makes Forces look all the more horrific. That it feeds into the stereotype of Classic being above reproach and that Modern is some sort of demon bestowed onto this world. That we should all get to our knees and praise the true hedgehog, he of black eyes and pot belly.

...Okay that last one is just me. Just a little bit bias. Point is, I don't like Mania. I dislike what it represents.

What do you think about Battle Royale games? How do you think this effects Gaming as a whole?

It's just the latest fad. Platformers, WWII shooters, motion control games, modern shooters, space shooters, open world games, now onto Battle Royale games. It's happened many times, and many have latched onto the trend before. It's just how this industry works.

That SAID, I hate Battle Royale games with a passion. I don't find running around in a field for 15 minutes before getting my head blown off by some random Twitch streamer haflway across the map who will go on to accuse me of stream-sniping to be fun. It's more that I hate both PUBG and Fortnite for different reasons; the former for looking extremely boring and the frankly idiotic legal stuff the developer has tried to do, and Fortnite because it turned some of my favourite Youtubers into one-trick ponies alongside those who exploit Fortnite for scamming or simple attention-seeking. Plus seeing all the low-quality shlock latch onto the trend is always depressing. Radical Heights, The Culling 2, Battlefield 5 has it, even Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will have a "Blackout" mode. Just the thing a game with fast-paced close-quarter combat needs!

My bitter rambling aside, this is but a fad. Everyone thought the glut of modern shooters in the wake of COD 4 would never end, but they did. It'll all blow over eventually, but not before someone takes the concept too far, makes it the straw that breaks the camel's back.

  9. Had to shove a reference in there somewhere. Really though, this works for me. Partly because it's a small reference that fits in the world (I mean Green Hills DOES sound like a name for a quiet little town like that) instead of having the ACTUAL Green Hill Zone in there for really no reason and bashing you over the head with the nostalgia like Forces did.

  10. Not really sure why this hasn't been asked befor but still;

If you could have your own dream team of Pokemon, what would they be and why?

For help, you can use the Pokemon Team Planner.

    https://richi3f.github.io/pokemon-team-planner/national_dex.html#

    I've already done so, of course. My team is, of course, a balanced team of my favourites, stats be damned;

    • Gardevoir
    • Raichu
    • Lopunny
    • Salamence
    • Ninetales
    • Vaporeon

    https://richi3f.github.io/pokemon-team-planner/national_dex.html#raichu+ninetales+vaporeon+gardevoir+salamence+lopunny

  11. And Forces. Have to make it tolerable somehow

I can't see people hacking Chronicles; partly because it was slapped together and any attempt to modify it would probably set the DS on fire, and partly because no-one really cares about Chronicles beyond a select few. Honestly it'd be less work to Remake the game from scratch in RPG Maker or something.

  12. Dang it, I was going to bring that up as well. Found it on Kotaku UK, of all places. Oddly enough, I find Eggman setting up an amusement park to exploit things to mine stuff to be quite in-character for him. I mean, that's basically what he did for Sonic Colours, wasn't it? I guess this lost script was more forward-thinking that we thought. Honestly it sounds like a decent story, but really it comes down to the potential execution. A Boy and his X Stories were overplayed and generally pretty poor at the time, and doing it now is just going to open the same can of worms that Sonic X did with Chris. Though seeing as the film we're going to get will have Sonic the Hedgehog and Tom the Cop, I think that's probably irelevant anyway.

The whole Real/Video game world thing though? That REALLY wouldn't work. It didn't work in Sonic Live, it didn't work in Sonic X, and I doubt it'd work here either. It's not a horrible idea (and really at the time it'd make more sense), but Sonic has a bit of a problematic history with the concept.

I wonder how long until someone tries to draw this out in comic form?

Yeah but I wonder how it will work because robotnik is still egg shaped and Jim Carrey is still fairly a skinny guy and most of his previous roles has him as a skinny guy.

    Fat suit? xD

Honestly, I REALLY do not see how Carey could play Eggman. I mean don't get me wrong, he's a talented actor with plenty of good, dramatic work behind him. But Eggman? I really, REALLY don't see it. Plus this means for sure we're getting a live-action/photorealistic Eggman. Remember the last time we got one of those?

Too bad Paramount doesn’t still own Kings Island, then we could totally have a Sonic themed roller coaster.

Not related to the film, but must interject - we Brits used to have a Sonic coaster. Well, it was a licenced repaint of the Screwball coaster at Alton Towers, but it had the full works. Even had a hotel room, noodle bar, plush toys in the UFO Catcher machines, even toys and bowls in the gift shop. It got closed for safety checks after the Smiler Coaster incident, then returned to being the Screwball in 2016.

  15. A few months previous, Sonic Youtuber Sonicguru put out a sort of poll asking people what they thought the best characters in all of Sonicdom were. Now that the votes are counted up, he's making a list of videos to see who placed where and why. And I will add them all to this page, one by one, as the days go by.

Now, to avoid the page being littered with mounds and mound of video links (all of which are fairly massive and slow browsers to a halt and can't be resized because, well why the hell not), I will just have them as that, hyperlinks, with spoiler-text you can highlight to see who the character is...or, I WOULD if the spoiler function on this website wasn't so user-unfriendly. Ready? Let's go.

  16. I'm fairly sure I've misunderstood this, but it still irks me.

Nintendo's disappointing E3 announcements send stock plunging

    http://money.cnn.com/2018/06/14/investing/e3-nintendo-stock-drop/index.html

Now, I feel that a lot of people would agree with the consultation that Nintendo, as bad as they are concerning business, is one of the few remaining publishers who at least adknowleges the players buying and playing their games. This doesn't extend to every game, but the general consensus is that they make games for the people to enjoy, rather than the investors to make idiotic amounts of money. And yet, because they have no lootboxes, no season passes, no needless DLC, the very idea that their games are not products to be sold to a sheep full of cash but an actual honest-to-Iwata game that people can enjoy...they get effectively penalised for it.

Also, to put this into perspective, EA (generally considered to have had the worst E3 presentation in years) put on a cringe-inducing show with little game details, some fairly obvious lies concerning lootboxes and angered most people with a mobile Command and Conquer game...and their stock went up by 12%.
