  1. too much of this game feels like a return to the 2000's era rather than refiniment of the 2010's. outside of some gameplay elements, other big issues seem to be related primarily with the writing, an issue that 3D sonic has always struggled with, and which never recovered after pontac and graff took the helm with colors.

    LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! Infinite's backstory:

    He's a jackal.

He's part of a group of mercs Eggman hired to protect one of his labs.

He proclaims himself as the "Ultimate Mercenary".

    Shadow beats up his group.

Shadow fights Infinite, but doesn't finish him off.

    Calls him weak and leaves.

Infinite throws a hissy fit over being called weak.

Puts on his mask. Fuses with the Phantom Ruby.

    Calls himself Infinite.

Basically: Infinite is really, really insecure. How disappointing.

Apparently it's pretty bad. What a shock.

the biggest part of the negativity I've seen has been the price to content ratio: too expensive for what is actually there.

also its freakin bubsy, who in their right minds thought he would be a money making machine? meme machine maybe but money? no.

So I completely forgot about this game actually existing, and it came out on Halloween with this trailer. I still can't believe this is real. @_@

Want to know the crazy thing about this game, it actually looks pretty decent...I know I'm scared too...

I might get it, maybe, probably, definitely.

  5. after almost three years halo fans finally get the answer to what went wrong with the mcc... only because they want to sell the xbox 0n3-X.

link to the thread I was shown: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1451175

at this point I'm not even mad anymore. since halo 4, 343! has continued to isolate themselves in a hugbox and cut-out the longstanding playerbase in leiu of legacy building. when halo 6 rolls around i'm actually expecting it to be a multimillion dollar flop thanks to their own arrogance and microsofts hubris, which is sad as they actually did do a ton of things right amongst the bad.

Okay let's get this topic back on track here, new update with some new features for the game such as being able to go back to any stage, 1 Chaos Emerald per zone, Time Challenges, Sonic Medal Collecting, all adding up to reaching for 100% where you'll get...something.

Man this game is getting a ton of stuff after all these years. :)

and its this kind of stuff that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!!

  7. I got that impression from comments on youtube as unreliable as they can be (I also found them frustrating as it seemed most were 3D fans from the Sa2B/X Era chasing their white whale known as Sa3). Still gonna wait for its release to pass judgement, if it's good i'll get it, if not, than I won't, simple as that.

  8. I've kinda held off on posting as I havent rewatched these movies in years and remember next to nothing about them, (and in the case of felidae, what i do remember is rather unpleasant and interesting) however they might contribute to discussion if anyone else remembers them

it was a fair amount of years ago now, but I remember my youtube diving brought me across three movies from around the 80's. bagi the mighty monster of nature, the elmchanted forest, and felidae. I hardly remember anything from the first two outside of both having a slightly downer ending to them and both having anthropomorphic characters, bagi was an anime (that supposedly was all "don't screw with nature recombinent dna sequencing!" though I don't remember) and the other was just an animated movie from yugoslavia about a painter who gets magic powers after sleeping under a tree, and has to defeat an evil thistle/cactus king. as for felidae, that one was outright a vulger and violent little animated film, with some aspects that I almost want to see in a warriors movie if you can get rid of the sexual and overly vulger elements (the nightmares felt like visions from the warriors series and could work in that context, the designs for most of the characters were great outside of maybe one or two cats, the gore if done right would help accentuate the impact of certain scenes that have occured in the books, and the animation style blends almost to well with how that series already has depicted its characters in the side mangas/comics/graphic novellas, etc.).

  9. not gonna lie, the heavy promotion in japan is making me very unsure about this game thanks to how its reminding me too much of 06, which always struck me as a game trying to cut into that market at the cost of it's longstanding fans (like halo 5 and fallout 4). either that, or they know it's not gonna do as well with western audiences since Mania blew everyone out of the water already.

though it's a bit relieving that blaze will NOT be in it (if aaron webber isnt being told to do that deny=surprise nonsense), she really needs a game set in her own world and on her own (*cough*notpointlesslytiedtosilverfornologicalreasonotherthantomakehimlookbetterorappeaseshippers*cough*) with an actually well designed villain to contend against. maybe that's what her absence means, who knows?

This was how I was introduced to Sonic 3D.  I didn't realize it at the time, but it was awful.  When I first played Sonic 3D (in Mega Collections) I realized how bad I had it.

yeeesh, that is literal pain to just look at.

oh tiger, why you were literally the best worst thing ever I will never know.

Take a look at the "What would you do differently Archie edition" for what I would do for the Eggman's Dozen.

You can have them tied to Eggman... but are they loyal is the question?

I agree whole heartedly with the points you made there.

my only issue was with those two characters in particular, as they were missed opportunities to diversify the cast of antagonists.

Let's give this one a jolt, shall we?

How would you handle the Egg Bosses? Like, would they be loyal, would Eggman FORCE them to serve him? How expendable would they truly be to him?

was replying elswhere when it came to me that this is what I would have done for two of the egg bosses I liked least

first up witchcart should not have been naugus's sister and eggmans lackey, but rather should have been a complete wildcard with no ties to anyone who could play all sides, so long as everyones fighting each other, her and her minions are getting ready to reach her goal of turning the land into her crystaline empire unopposed meaning that their only stake is to prolong the conflictions between each group

meanwhile the Battle Kukku Empire should have been somwhere between the level of the eggman empire and G.U.N. as a faction with all of them having no love for each other and having their own agenda's, but willing to work WITH those who's agendas are directly next to theirs like so:

    freedom fighters-g.u.n.-battle kukku empire-eggman empire.

    - ff will work with gun, but not bke or eggman

    - gun will work with bke or ff, but not eggman

    - bke will work with gun or eggman, but not ff

    - eggman will work with bke, but not gun or ff

if one faction allies with a group counter to another, the group counter to the other faction will be more hostile towards the faction they would normally work with (like if ff works with gun, bke will be hostile to gun until gun stops working with ff and vice versa, same goes for bke with regards to gun and eggman). no faction should work FOR anyone however and may stab one another in the back at any given point if its beneficial to their agenda, and extreme cases can occur where a third party event (such as an even bigger world ending threat) may cause factions who would be hostile to one another to become allied and vice-versa (one example would be when the world was shattered by eggman, the bke may be nuetral towards the ff as their goal of restoring the planet is beneficial to themselves as well). obviously this wouldnt be the ironclad status quo, as amny characters within each faction would keep their unique traits (characters can change factions organically if the plot and character motivations/growth can allow for it such as if the eggbosses were like how @Wulfsbane described how he would have done them)

Let him localize a game first.

I do think he would do better with a game than a comic

I agree, if he were to be hired to localize a few games and do a good enough job, then writing for a game and seeing where it goes is alright so long as he doesn't go overboard and tether ALL the villains to eggman again. (poorly redesigned and tethered twice witchcart, her minions, and the Battle Kukku Empire were poor choices last time that still burns me up)

  14. Ian Flynn is working on it? Weeeellllll my expectations just plummeted of a cliff!!!

Joking aside, it won't bother me so long as he's not head writer. We've seen his work before and what he can do, and it might be for the best if he holds a position akin to what yardley and baker held with archie, as his work seemed pretty inconsistent when moving from one arc to the next, or drawn out for huge arcs.

One thing this might imply (and hope I'm wrong, but with all my worst case scenarios seeming to be coming true this decade) is that the Freedom Fighters may just show up, and if not them (and this one I hope I'm right about) then the eggbosses may be back and better than before.

  15. Agh, I don't know how to feel now. With Sony it was obviously 'do not like or want cause smurfs cash grab emoji movies and the whatnot' but now I don't know. Blur studios does all the halo 2A and halo wars cinematics, but halo is much different than sonic and live action/cgi is still a huge part of it, as well as it being paramount.

  16. after listening to a bunch of 8-bit sonic soundtracks I wound up doodling early proto-sonic, and then added a younger vanilla based in part on my first concept interpretation, and then gave another shot at the cream concepts I couldnt see in the original picture, AND THEN I drew a really edgy witchcart surrounding the three of them like sonic 2's box art:

    scan_20170928.thumb.png.040c86ccb8be70159ffbc40975ae740e.png

the end result: I honestly want this to be a game now, like really badly. maybe make it sort of like tails adventure or sonic advance 3, set it long before the events of sonic 1, have each character play different from both each other and the usual sonic gameplay, etc and so forth. it would be a nice spinoff I think, and definitely not be too detrimental to the sonic series at large.

  17. I kind of like and respect sonic R. it wasnt god awful, nor was it fantastic, but it was the first 3D sonic game I ever played and I find it kind of charming. though the tails doll is quite humorous in that it was just an easter egg to sonic adventure by its relationships to gamma's first level and tails version of radical highway.

  18. played it on release, so here are some of my thoughts:

    - the references are wonderful and clever, not in your face

    - the villains are really well designed, not too edgy, but still threatening in their own right as well as further serving to make robotnik more intimidating

    - the boss fights are superb, some might not be too hard (a certain stardust speedway and chemical plant come to mind) but the trade off is that they are just plain fun all around

    - all fears I had that the reference levels would be boring and uninteresting were thankfully buried 6 feet under after the first level (green hill was FUN for the first time in a long time)

    - the new stages handled really well

    - so much to talk about good, almost no bad aside from a glitch or two

    My Response to Canon Sallicole

    I'm going to get massacred, aren't I?

    ...

Screw it! I'm voicing my opinion on this!

To be perfectly honest, I was pretty disappointed when that ship was made canon- I am a huge fan of brotp’s and would choose a developed bromance over a romantic relationship any day. And Sally and Nicole… I loved seeing their BFF chemistry! I get what the writers were implying and I could kinda see why some fans shipped them, but before now, I always figured it was just a case of fans not being able to differentiate between a close friendship and a couple. I guess I just don’t understand what’s so hard about keeping characters friends and leaving it at that. But if there are people out there who are able to enjoy this ship when I just can’t, then more power to ‘em.

I understand that this is an extremely unpopular opinion of their relationship, especially since Jennifer Hernandez confirmed this ship on Twitter. I get that there are a lot of people out there who consider this their OTP. I'm most definitely going to receive some backlash for posting this- hate mail, flame wars, maybe a loss of followers. And if that is the case, then I could care less, because it would only bolster my other opinion that shippers need to chill the heck out. I'm allowed to have my opinions, and y'all are allowed to have yours.

I just discovered this, and can say 110% that I am officially sooooo glad that the writers at archie no longer write the comic anymore.

as it was the bunnie and antoine marriage arc and subsequent characterizations always rubbed me the wrong way, as it contributed nothing but a way to pander a ship in light of sonic and sally being split up at the time, however this particular "official by word of god" ship was just so stupidly concocted it makes the elise scenes in 06 look well written. I generally don't hate shipping, but only when it meets a very specific set of criteria to me that doesnt go kicking the original source material in the face.
