  1. I believe Sega has set themselves up to create Modern and Classic Sonic as separate continuities even if it wasn't their intention. Sonic Generations worked more with the time paradox as there are hints of Modern Sonic being the future Classic Sonic; however, even Generations had issues with this concept as both Sonics did not match up: classic Sonic had a different appearance (most noticable his black eyes) and a different attitude than modern Sonic and it didn't help that while modern Sonic would often speak classic Sonic would never speak. It doesn't help that classic Sonic would appear to be more mature and powerful than Modern Sonic: if modern Sonic is classic Sonic's future self, than why does it appear he has been downgraded? Classic Sonic has better quality ever Modern Sonic, and that is where the whole trouble lies. Sonic from the classic era was always seen as a cool guy with an attitude; Sonic's transition into the SOJ setting has loosened that coolness and attitude to the point where Modern Sonic doesn't resemble the Sonic from the Classic era. I believe it was fan's connections to the classic Sonic that drove Sega to make Classic Sonic as a character in Generations; but I believe Sega did not expect the fans to use the game as an excuse to separate Classic and Modern Sonic as two separate Sonics. Bring in Sonic Boom and it really confuses the mess. In all reality, I see each of them as a different character: the only thing they have in common is being a speedy blue hedgehog. Since Generation, Sega now has to deal with at least three Sonic dimensions in the gaming franchise to please each of the fans. I think it wasn't a smart move to separate Sonic into various dimensions, but at that expense we still have the classic Sonic that we have loved in the 90s. I believe Sonic 2017 will explain more about the connection with Classic and Modern Sonic.
  2. Just to let you know, I will be trying to lend a hand in Mike's new rp. I have never tried rping before, and I admit that I am not a fan of D&D either: however, I do see this as an opportunity to try to work on broadning skills that could be useful in storytelling. I encourage you to tag along (mostly so I won't be the only rookie) as you will be working with a couple of guys intent on working with each other to improve these skills. You got a good group here to help you out.
  3. Well, if anything, I would get rid of the Sonic fan girls. Also, I am not too fond of Sonic being part of a band...guess I wasn't the Underground type.
  4. We can only go so far with the realiism in a blue hedgehog's world. Be back with a profile.
  5. But think how well the comics and Sega would have done in the Genesis' heyday! After Sonic and Knuckles, Sega had Sonic made and they finally introduced new story elements to the gameplay. That would have been a perfect time to release a FF game.
  6. I wish Sega would have been able to carry out with Sonic 16 not only to help introduce the FF into the game setting but also since the title would probably have been released near the time of the previous main Sonic titles. Doing so would have at least given more variety to the Genesis and the series if not help improve on both the success of the main Genesis titles and the Archie comics.
  7. I didn't know the mangas had more storyline than just that one sample I looked at (the one with the fan girls). I'll have to take another look before making any remarks. Just a side note, I believe you can find the mangas on the same site that hosts the fleetway and archie comics.
  8. Be my guest. I don't think I'm too deep of a thinker, so you better scratch the canine off the list.
  9. You guys ever had dreams where you felt you were falling and your whole body jerked?
  10. I have used Audacity, but for simple sound recordings. I should download it and see what all I can do with it. As for the mic, I might keep my eye out for a good price.
  11. Thanks for the info, mate. I did do a little acting in college, but I never made an attempt to voice act. I know of an old barn that I could use to try out some voice acting using the physical approach.
  12. What resources would I need to mess with voice acting? Any suggestion on software/hardware?
  13. A little tricky. I really did not like her voice actor, so already I have a con against Cream. I thought her character was alright in the first season: playing as the first did and acting as the lost child until her mother reunites with her. She seemed to work well in the human setting, and she was nowhere near annoying as some other characters when watching Sonic fight Eggman. Once she is reunited with Vanilla; however, Cream came off more as a drag character until she joined the gang on the Blue Typhoon to find the 7 emeralds. Being a young child and not an experienced fighter, it's understandable for some characters (like Vector) to try to take her away from the adventure, but at least Cream has matured to the point that she recognizes the danger and her mother's concern but is still willing to support her friends in their fight with the Meterax. She does come off as somewhat useful (though not as much as Chris surprisingly) as she can pilot a craft to participate in dogfights and she also seems to be, after Tails, the closest friend to Cosmo. I think Cream has more use in the series than Amy, but I doubt that Cream would continue to go along with Sonic on more adventures. She is not a traveller; she has a family and a home. I believe when she is older she will resolve to settle down instead of joining Sonic and Tails: many skills she has (cooking, cleaning, gardening, crafts) suits her better in building a home rather than spend life on a continuous adventure. If the series continued in Sonic's world, I would expect to see less of her as she no longer has to rely on the gang for protection and support. My main quirk about Cream is why was she captured in the first episode? Was she just a hostage? Was she someone important? Vanilla had Vector search for Cream before being transported to Earth, so Eggman had to have a reason to kidnap Cheese. As for Cheese, I leave it at that. I am not fond of chaos...too much of a girly thing for me to take in.
  14. I haven't watched too much of the show, but I will give it a crack... 1. Maybe Bygone Island is the main setting of the story, so there isn't much of a need to focus outside of Bygone Island. IN comparison, Satam mostly focused on one main region of Mobius: Robtropolis, Knothole Village, and the surrounding areas. We know from the show that Mobius is larger than just the Great Forest, but we hardly focus outside of the region because the plot is focusing on Knothole and Robotroplois. With Boom, the action mostly takes place on Bygone Island, so unless Eggman causes terror in another part of that world, Sonic and his friends are content at staying on Bygone Island. As the show is mostly just focused on comedy, I don't see a problem with the focus being on Bygone Island: we just need to develop the local inhabitants beside the main cast. 2. I was able to see it a mile away too, but I am not happy with Knuckles' current predicament. Knuckles was one of my favorite characters, but I can't even recognize and bear him in Boom. There are ways to make a character funny without giving him 0 i.q. and a shallow personality; the problem with Knuckles is that he is supposed to be a mysterious character that rivals Sonic. Taking away his guardian duties hurts his character: he should be guarding something otherwise it is not the same Knuckles people loved when he was first introduced. Knuckles was always supposed to symbolize the mountain: firm and steadfast in his ways. This counter's Sonic's adventurous lifestyle, and it's the main reason I don't believe Knuckles should be in the main cast of Sonic's friends. I would remove Knuckles as a main character as his legacy does not fit the role; however, you did ask what we would do to make him funny and not a guardian. My best bet is to take OVA's take on Knuckles: a lonely treasure hunter that has a friendship with Sonic but still fits as some type of rival with a mysterious background. With this Knuckles, the way to make him funny would be to make him knowledgeable about various worldwide topics but uncultured and a bit of an outcast to the rest of Bygone Island. In this manner, Knuckles could easily end up on the loose end of various jokes by the more culturelly sounded Sonic and co. In like manner, Knuckles can also play the humor back on Sonic with his own knowledge and be creative at his own tricks (similar to how he worked on Sonic 3). We could get some humor with the rivalry aspect too, but we need to make sure it doesn't come out one way (Knuckles wants to be better than Sonic); both characters need to show their rivalry in subtle ways. 3. Knuckles, obviously, but I have said enough about him. It would be neat to see the FF make an appearance, but their storyline doesn't flow too well with the comedy of Boom. I would like to change Tails: I am not fond of him being the mechanic sidekick to Sonic as he wasn't presented that way in his early game appearances. To me, Tails just comes off as just a mechanic that plays the only sane man part; I'd rather he look up to Sonic and be more of the faithful sidekick/brother he was supposed to be. I would remove Shadow from the show as he is just there for fandom (even Eggman is lampshading it). If I was to add a character, I would suggest Fang the Sniper as he could double as another villain besides Eggman and could cause a lot of trouble for Sonic with the inhabitants on Bygone Island.
  15. Ouch, kind of harsh there in wanting to kill here in the first episode... I'd be all out for her to be removed from the show, but I would also have approved the removal of several other characters. I have to admit, though, I did a couple good laughs at her fangirl tactics and Sonic's responses to them. I would agree with WarTraveller that she should have received some character development and matured from her fangirl hype. Sonic is fine with her being a friend, and she should recognize that position and become more humble with her actions. She also needed to cool down on her temper.
  16. AOM Edit.rtf Edit Page.rtf Here are two wordpad documents. The one is your story with highlighting while the other is a list of errors I found in correspondance to the writing. I did not complete the entire story: if you want me to, I can work at completing the proofreading. I have noticed many mistakes, and if you want to talk, we can chat about it on skype.
  17. Give me a chance to reread the chapter this weekend. I will then try to point out any errors.
  18. Nope! You seem to know your ending. You have both bookends.
  19. Welcome aboard. Anyways, howdy! Your art looks amazing, especailly your super (or hyper?) Sonic painting.
  20. Did you want more of a critic or just an opinion? I enjoyed the story, but just because I enjoyed it doesn't help you with continuing the story.
  21. Before you go about planning all the story details, I believe you need to be able to know your beginning and end. You have shared with us your beginning: do you know how the story is going to end (no need to post the synoposis)? If you have both the beginning and the end figured out, then we can start brainstorming for ideas to throw into your story.
