  1. Ooh, that's tough to say as it's been awhile since I've seen the show, though fondly remember episodes with Knuckles and the Chaos Emerald Crisis Story Arc, this show had a lot of deception with nearly half of the one shot characters turning out to be traitors or saving the siblings before getting roboticized. Despite Ben Hurst being involved in the show it's weaker then SatAM, and yet overshadowed by AoSTH, that it almost ends up being forgotten even. However there are some diamonds in the rough, as you see the corruption of the wealthy who let everyone else live in squander and fear, you get to see much more of the whole world of Mobius in this Sonic Underground and it ends up very interesting. You get a good sense of the scope of things, and I like that. Also in a bit of a twist Sonic is the closest thing to the straight man in the main cast of characters, and that is something I don't think anyone else could ever say about another other Sonic show. One episode that I can consider a favorite however now that it comes to mind is Tangled Webs, when an old friend of Sonic ends up working for Robotnik in order to save his dad, however due to the end result being the destruction of Sanctuary (The closest thing to Knothole this show has) which houses a whole bunch of children, he can't go through with it and spills the beans. They end up saving the day but Cyrus' father is apparently lost for good because of this, and despite all that's happened in the episode Sonic and his Siblings forgive him, it was a really good episode. While Robotnik's voice is not as threatening in Sonic Underground the show points out just how much of an evil tyrant Robotnik is, maybe not to the extent of SatAM Robotnik it's pretty close. I would like the show more if it weren't for the distracting Music Videos, the show is suppose to be like a Rock Opera but the music isn't really good and mostly comes off as grating, except for the main theme. Honestly that and the main premise of the show are the biggest weak points of the show for me and stops it from being something really special. I really should watch some more episodes though and see how good it really is though.
  2. Ultra Sonic and The Void are excellent, nearly every episode of SatAM is a gem, real grounded world with characters that emote and feel, that struggle and you can feel that struggle. And while things can be bleak, despite it being a "dark" show they don't lose that witty, light-hearted spirit, they try to not let their world and situation get to them. Though sometimes that's not always the case, Sonic's Nightmare for example is the 2nd best example in showing that Sonic is...for the lack of a better term human, he does feel fear and things can get to him, this is the kind of stuff Sega would NEVER allow nowadays sadly... I really like Sonic Racer too, rather then winning the trophy from Robotnik to rub it in his face and beat Robotnik, Sonic doesn't lose sight of what's important and ends up shutting down the generator and saves his friends. Despite his ego and arrogance he knows what's truly important and they win that battle, that's something I don't think we'll ever see officially again as this Sonic doesn't usually overlook anything unlike say Archie Sonic, or isn't completely lazy and apathetic like Sonic from Sonic X. Granted he is a kid at heart with the flaws of one in SatAM but he is a Sonic the Hedgehog that I can confidently call a Hero, that's why it's one of my favorite episodes in SatAM. Another one would be Harmonic Sonic, despite being infamous to many SatAM fans it's another personal favorite as Rotor is co-staring with Sonic this time around and maneuvering around the literally insane Sky Spy between a slime creature and jazzy robots, it's pretty epic with them taking down this satellite from orbit, it's also the only episode where they go into space I may add. It's much more easier to point out the episodes that aren't my favorite rather then pointing out my favorites.
  3. That's a good question, at least for me as there are a lot of favorites for me regarding this show despite how nuts it is. There's Lovesick Sonic, not including it's Infamous PSA, actually Breezie might be the first love interest for Sonic I ever saw. Along with that episode the most noticeable ones for me are Birth of a Salesmen, Wes Weasley's first appearance. The Mystery of The Missing Hi-Tops which is oddly and sadly the closest to a noir episode this series has, and introduces the mostly forgotten Sonette, a Sonic Fan Girl similar to Amy Rose that makes Amy look sane, I'm not even kidding. Pseudo Sonic, Tails New Home, not to mention the Chaos Emerald Saga of AoSTH, I got a lot of favorites. Honestly looking back on this show now as insane as it is, and despite not being as good as SatAM it does have a decent number of odd ball gems in the show.
  4. Daddler! Hey there long time no see, welcome aboard. We're glad you could make it to the Free Scribes Party.
  5. I see what you mean, but here's the thing, this is a Sonic that DOESN'T take action when the going gets tough until it's almost or just about too late. I mean yeah, Sega Sonic is similar to his Sonic X counterpart, thing is though he jumps straight into the action and acts upon whatever is going on without stopping until it's done basically, which has been mostly consistent throughout the games. In Sonic X he's way too passive for his own good, and if it were true about him having more power to take Eggman down then he wouldn't have needed the emeralds during the first season finale, if it weren't for the Chaos Emeralds dropping in the ocean with him he'd be dead. The main differences is when he takes action, or lack of taking action that's his problem, he waited all the way until the end of Season 2 to knock some sense into Chris rather then doing that say halfway or at the end of Season 1, in fact him being there at the end of Season 2 almost destroyed both worlds and he could have left at anytime, if he really gave a care he'd talk to Chris and tell him to get a grip rather then letting that scenario play out and risk both worlds. When he DOES take things seriously it's scraping by the skin of his teeth bad, rather then acting much sooner or attempting to act earlier, it's like this guy is addicted to making bad choices. Let alone the prime example is the beginning of Season 3, scattering all the emeralds across the universe rather then retreating with the emeralds, granted there would be damage to the planet due to Dark Oak being around but at least if they were scattered you wouldn't have to look all across the universe, actually that might have caused more damage from the Metarex to other planets they already didn't drain. Not to mention it is with these lack of actions that ended up with Cosmo's Death and an emotionally scarred Tails who had to literally put her down. There's a huge difference between being laid back and barely caring, other Sonic's have been laid back but they acted at the first drop of the hat usually rather then barely acting at all, not to mention that distance from his acquaintances both physically and emotionally is very unsettling, hence why I asked this question. I didn't mean for this to be a rant, but my problem with his laziness and laid back attitude in this series ends up being very unhealthy to not only him but the worlds and universe around him, and ended up causing much more problems in the end.
  6. Welcome one and all to the topic all about another blue video game protagonist, rather then The Blue Blur, in here we'll talk about The Blue Bomber, The Super Fighting Robot, Megaman! But which one? Well...all of them! From any multimedia or series, anything Megaman Official or Fan Made should go here, keeps things uncluttered though I can see this topic getting a little confusing, but regardless you stepped in knowing that this is Megaman, you knew where this was going. Unlike Sega, Capcom embraced different takes on Megaman hence why we have so many different series and interpretations, such as the Megaman Megamix/Gigamix Mangas, or Megaman X, or Megaman Zero, or Legends...I should stop because it'll never end if I do. Either way this topic is a free form one, share your favorite stories about the Megaman series! Any theories or complains you have? Reconstruct the series too! Other then going Maverick almost anything goes! Just keep in mind the general forum rules and it's all good. I will say this though, this topic will be Spoiler Heavy so if you want to check out something from the series first or have been meaning to play Legends, now's the time to do so, with that said... READY *Blip*
  7. Nice to meet you Funnel, welcome to Free Scribes!
  8. Great going F07E, you're doing really well with these designs, speaking of which... http://www.sonicretro.org/2016/06/never-before-seen-concept-art/ There you go, work your magic!
  9. Well actually considering one of those flashbacks The Metarex/Seedrians natural form...or at least the males can turn into giant T-Rex Monsters which burns them out and kills them soon after last time I remember. Honestly I think they're part Plant and part Reptilian technically, considering that transformation. On that note Arcan, so your answer for Cosmo would be to basically turn her into a Fiona Fox, only around Tails age then right? I gotta say, coming from you that irony is hilarioous. But yeah I see what you mean, and I've dealt enough with flashbacks from The Following, no more! @_@ I gotta say lovin your answers so far guys, seems like we're all on the same page here with Chris Thorndyke, now it's my turn... How would I handle Chris Thorndyke? I'd actually remove him entirely from the show if I could, or make him a very minor side character. Because I can see where they're going with him, I get it I really do. When they made Chris they wanted a "relateable" character to be our eyes so to speak, because being Bruce Wayne rich is something we can ALL relate to. But no, we don't, rather I'd have our Relateable Character being Tails, yes he's a Two Tailed Fox whose also an Genius Inventor, but he's the most grounded of Sonic's cast and portrays being as close as brothers better then anyone. Tails as he is, but also as our audience surrogate works much better then Chris ever did. It's like how we followed those Insurance Collectors from Trigun or Ceres from the first Hellsing Anime, they were going for something like that but failed in execution. Cosmo I'm not sure how to deal with, perhaps make it so that her whole race isn't completely extinct, but rather be a majority of it being The Metarex, have it so that for her there is something at stake for her other then surviving, her whole race depends on this! As she was in the show, she's completely broken as she lost EVERYTHING, yeah they helped her heal slightly, but the scars are still there. If there was some hope for her that her race was still alive as it was, then perhaps she could have ended up a more stronger, independent character rather then the meek load she became, or even a mystic healer of sorts, that could have worked as well! there are a lot of ways to have her be, even an evil spy if that. But the rules aren't set up well enough and it ends up as it does in the show, clumsily handled with a character whose sole purpose is to be the show's punching-feels bag. Now then, let's get to the harder stuff...also all previous questions are available to answer at anytime no matter what. How would you handle Emerl, who ended up not having a character in the show?
  10. Welcome to another edition of What Would You Do Different? The forum topic where we ask each other just exactly what would we change on our favorite and not so favorite stuff! Today's topic is Sega's own attempt at a Sonic Show completely under their control away from DiC, with help from the animation studio TMS, I'm of course referring to the show that's GOTTA GO FAST Sonic X. Now for this topic we're going to stretch things up a bit, see Archie Comics had their own Sonic X Comic as well somewhat after the show was over, It's arguably canon or non-canon, but for the sake of saving topic space the Archie Sonic X Comic is also allowed in here as well.at That being said, Sonic X is one of the most polarizing shows to ever be released by a lot of fans, but still we just can't put it into a corner and ignore it. Instead let's see how we would change the show if given a chance, or what we would do differently in this case. So, let's S-O-N-I-C GO straight into the topic. (I'll never be clean) Thorndyke, Chris Thorndyke, how would you handle him in Sonic X?
  11. For this Reconstructed Topic...yeah it's gotta be done, we're going to try to make sense on several moments, scenes, and what not on one of the most polarizing received Sonic Shows ever to come out, I'm talking of course of Sega and TMS' attempt at their own show, Sonic X. In this case since while it was and is mainly an Anime, I feel that talking about the Archie Sonic X Comic can also apply to this topic as well as it saves up some room and takes place roughly in the same continuity, arguably. This half original, half Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 adaption needs to be talked about, otherwise how can we ever learn from what worked and what didn't. That being said I'll start off with a question and we can go on this ride together. We gotta go fast, let's begin! (I'm so sorry) WHY is Sonic so dang lazy and passive, it's like he barely cares about his friends and is reluctantly involved in them, what's his deal?
  12. Welcome aboard Ishapar! Glad to finally have you here.
  13. We have a double sided topic for this one, What Would You Do Different and Reconstructed Unite! In this case due to the lack of a lot of material for this series, both Series of ours are joined for Sonic OVA, the World of Planet Freedom and many things that look alike, such as Ice and Water, Stake and Cow. XP So rules for both topics both apply, we try to reconstruct any scenes, moments, or anything in the OVA that we feel that needed more of an explanation, as well as say what we would change in the OVA as well. So enjoy and let's ride our bike on a Sunday. 1. Why would Robotnik try to kill everybody and then try to repopulate the planet with Sara!? 2. How would you handle or make the world of Planet Freedom? What would you change about it?
  14. Didn't the 3 siblings pretty much jump to the call in the show already? I mean the one character's life that wasn't garbage was Sonia but immediately became garbage when she met her brothers, then got her adopted mother Roboticized. It would be more realistic for them to refuse the call though, then see their adopted parents get captured for Sonia and Manic, thus join up with Sonic. Sonic already experienced that in the show twice over, so he could be there for them and help bring them all together, or at least have the first step to do so.
  15. Hey I'm glad your on board man, thanks for joining up. Welcome to the Free Scribes!
  16. I'ma hold you on that one, as Archie Sonic himself is responsible, directly and indirectly for causing a LOT of problems and mass death on Mobius and Beyond, but that's a story for another day. On a side note that's how I'd have Scourge if we are still following Pre-Reboot Mobius and not goiing for our own Archie Sonic take or Post-Reboot, except for the Master Emerald Guardian Part that is. In fact all of these Reworkings I'll post here for Archie Sonic are keeping in line with Pre-Reboot unless notified otherwise. Mina huh, good choice, for one thing I'd keep her as a singer but make her much more active, like have a few stories where she ends up in the mists of bad situations and with no other Freedom Fighters, despite her fears like how she almost got killed trying to be one, would have to take the role a few times. I'm not saying she would join the group officially but she would not just inspire people with her music, but her actions as well. With the whole Nicole thing, her fears can bleed into her lyrics and cause more harm then good by sending the wrong message. This would probably cause conflict with Ash not wanting her to put herself in danger, and perhaps even her band mates which could lead to a lot of potential stories as well, such as the choice of not being a Freedom Fighter, like what does that make her then? Will tensions with Ash break them apart, what about the band? Mina I think never had much of a spine, her only one heroic moment was taking a bullet for Sally, after that other then some feelings left for Sonic until the whole Nicole thing happened she didn't have a Character Arc anymore and grew weaker in mild comfort, until The Iron Queen happened. We have a girl who didn't know what she wanted in her life, wanted to be with someone, did stupid things, didn't win the boy and lost a lot with her Mom, but then discovered a dream thanks to her friends and became a big star, now that she's a star and is living her dream...what's there left to do? That's how I would handle Mina anyway, from shallow girl to star singer, then brought down a peg upon a song gone wrong, her character would go on from there and bear all the choices she would make.
  17. Now that's a good question, because I'm not sure if I could choose a favorite among the 4 games during that era, as they are all close to me in the same way...Sonic Shuffle less so, that was more of a masochistic relationship. My favorite Story was Sonic Adventure 1, while my favorite Game Play was in Sonic Adventure 2, both are tied in my book with Sonic Pocket Adventure being in 2nd. Even then it's a very close when it comes to Game Play, SA2 has a pretty good story but there are a lot of plotholes in it.
  18. Nice, though remember if you have an ongoing story planned, it's always nice to keep concepts hidden from view so people don't immediately guess what's going to happen next in your story. XP Still, good to see we are on the same wavelength on how that would work out for Scourge, bad fates all around! Unless he could somehow redeem himself, fates worse then death it is. That's how it should go yeah.
  19. Throughout the years Sonic has had few hiccups when it comes to finishing things for better or worse...except for TV Show Finales *shot* But every once in awhile things fall to the wayside, some levels or content is cut, even entire games are abandoned, so we're going to answer questions regarding what you wished would have happened, why so and what you think would have happened if these things happened. So take a look with me and imagine the possibilities of what could have been, and wish for things that should have been a thing..things. ...moving on... What Cancelled Sonic Game do you wish ended up being released?
  20. Once again we take a look at some of our favorite games, moments, and anything that we liked during the 2010's era of Sonic so far (as of this posting). We went from jumping on to the sequel to S3&K, to joining the Olympics with Mario. We saw Colors all around then jumped back in time (once again) to cross Generations. We even raced with Sega's All-Stars and jumped in the middle of the era with a Boom...right back in our faces. With that said, let's say what was our favorite in this strange era of Sonic. What was your favorite game of the 2010's (so far) and why?
  21. Alright Everybody, it's time to tell our tales of how we experienced Sonic during the decade of the 2000's. From Heroes to Aliens, Advances to Gizoids, Flames to Werehogs, Riders and Storybooks, tell your fellows why and what you liked in the era of semi-stability to decline, then picking up the pieces in the roughest decade in Sonic History. What was your favorite game in the 2000's era and why?
  22. Okay upon further inspection regarding the Nocturnus Clan and the Gizoids based on their designs, you got a point there. Or at least the Nocturnus could have at least change the color scheme of The Gizoids to match their Clan. Maybe they stole them who knows.
  23. Well you got my interest. Scourge really could go a number of ways, being less sympathetic would help out a bit, revealing that he's not as tough as he leads on in his backstory would help as well. Make him more pathetic rather then sympathetic, something that I feel Scourge always was and he became the way he was due to how screwed up his world is. But make sure to show he can be as bad as any of the villains, in the end he's more of a street punk on a power trip. I would show that his counterpart, Sonic is not too far off from being similar or worse then Scourge though, which I think could give Scourge some level on him, have a scene like the One Bad Day part where in this case it's reversed, Sonic is the one taunting him but Scourge then pushes his buttons way too far. I know that's not entirely a Scourge only part I said but interactions like that are important, it keeps people guessing, wondering, and adds some depth to the story and characters. I would also show how Fiona got on his side and the eventual downfall of their "relationship", and Scourge's ultimate fate being quite horrible. Like say since he absorbed energy from the Master Emerald, the conflicting energies in body made him stronger...at first, but then become unstable resulting in Scourge dying due to both Chaos and Anarchy Energy inside him. If the Master Emerald was similar to the one in Sega Sonic and Post-Reboot, I'd have it so that in order to survive, Scourge would have to remain by the ME's side at all times...yes, in a twist of fate I would have Scourge become the new Guardian of the Master Emerald FOREVER, with it, or Tikal and Chaos able to stop Scourge whenever he tries to go back to his old ways, it would either free Knuckles of his duty or give him an unwanted apprentice as well. Or we go full throttle here, he gets his big dumb Super Fight with Sonic and loses, however someone else would finish him off, either intentionally or unintentionally, I'll let your imaginations run wild on that one. So basically Scourge would be pretty dead at that point...at least he would be if Eggman didn't find him, barely holding on to life.. With that, we wouldn't just have Metal Sonic anymore...he'd be grafted on to a Legionized Scourge. We wouldn't have both characters as they once were, instead...this would give birth to a brand new, more terrifying Pseudo Sonic... That's how I would rework Archie Sonic's Scourge the Hedgehog.
  24. Ah, sorrry about that I haven't had a chance to play Sonic Chronicles, and it's been a long time since I had played Sonic Battle. Though maybe Sonic Chronicles takes place in it's own continuity where Emerl didn't kill them all? That or The Nocturnus ended up finding Emerl and build Imperfect Gizoids based off of Emerl, again never played Sonic Chronicles but at least they tried to tie in some lore together which is much more then Sega has ever done lately. Anyone played Gunstar Heroes before, Emerl is just reminding me more of the final boss of that game Golden Silver at this point considering how powerful he's suppose to be. XP
  25. Yeah it did, at least the Echidnas we're actually decent for once in the canon, actually I believe The Echidna Tribe in this comic predates all other Echidnas in other Canon as a matter of fact, too bad we didn't get to see enough of them. Wow I'm actually complaining that I didn't see enough Echidnas, that's a first. XP I like it how it's similar to both STC and Sega Sonic at the same time, though it does lean more on the Sega Sonic Classic Era it turned out just fine, can't imagine what they could have done with the series, maybe we would have had Sticks decades earlier. On that note The Echidnas of Sonic Chronicles I believe are based on one of the alien races of Mass Effect and The Dark Legion, not a bad combination as they took out all the unnecessary stuff from The Legion and at least tied in The Gizoids to them, actual plot development! The Archie Sonic Echidnas...I need an entire topic to cover those guys...and a LOT of Motrin...
