  1. I'll just get Forces, but not on launch day. Wait for the reviews to come out...or I WOULD, if they were actually any use to me.
  2. Yeah but that won't stop him from making a big scene about it, will it?
  3. Or it could be legal issues, I'm not too sure. A lot of people have theorised that is why there aren't any Echidnas available.
  4. Unless SEGA prohibits the creation of certain characters for whatever reason.
  5. Just thought of another one. Title: Act your Age Written By: Perry Martin Synopsis: When Sonic is caught lying about his age in order to try and stay young, Amy and Tails use a machine to get him to act more like his age, to see if he will become a more competant leader. But when this aging process transforms him into a muscled and arrogent jerk (...again), they and the rest of Team Sonic decide that they want their teen nacroleptic back instead. Main Characters: Miles "Tails" Prower, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna, Sticks the Badger Antagonist(s): Adult Sonic (an older, taller, muscled Sonic with a five-o-clock shadow. Also a complete jerk and pompous attention-grubber who disregards his teammates as extrenuous) Backup Characters: Doctor Eggman, Lowell Highcastle New Characters (with Description): N/A Selected Quote:
  6. Oh hey here's that other one I said I'd make; Title: Friends and Fortune Written By: Perry Martin Synopsis: Following a supremely unlucky encounter with Eggman, Sonic is saved from total destruction from a group of strangers calling themselves Team Genesis - three friends who are very close to each other and take a lot of what they do seriously. Stranded in this universe for a while, the two ideologies of strict teamwork and lazy luck begin to clash - with very unfortunate results. Main Characters: Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna Antagonist(s): N/A Backup Characters: Doctor Eggman, Amy Rose, Sticks the Badger New Characters (with Description): Lowell Highcastle (a vampire wolf with a laser pistol and a very short temper), Katherine Highcastle (a black hedgehog with a laser rifle and mechanical wings), Nikolai Pentreko (a Russian porqupine with a laser shotgun and ice powers) Selected Quote:
  7. You know, I've noticed that for a show I hate, I can't seem to stop talking about it. But still, this was something I wanted to do as well; see if anyone has some good ideas for Sonic Boom episodes. I've got two right now (I'll add the next one later), and I might add more later. If you want to add your own ideas, feel free to. Just follow this simple little template; Title: Written By: Synopsis: Main Characters: Antagonist(s): Backup Characters: New Characters (with Description): Selected Quote: Got it? Good. Here we go with my picks; Title: The Curse of the Werebadger Written By: Perry Martin Synopsis: When Sticks is "bitten" by a malfunctioning Ancient machine, she is cursed to transform into a powerful monster each and every full moon...on the week of the Bygone Island Full Moon Festival. With only Amy able to keep Sticks from going feral (well, more feral), it's a race against time as Sonic must work with one of Tails' stranger friends to cure Sticks and stop Eggman from using this to his advantage. Main Characters: Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose, Sticks the Badger Antagonist(s): Doctor Eggman, Werebadger Sticks, Lycantech 4000 (the malfunctioning Ancient machine, designed to allow the taming of the Ancients' enemies as pets and war mounts) Backup Characters: Knuckles the Echidna, Miles "Tails" Prower New Characters (with Description): The Surgeon (a "Time Lord" that lives on the outskirts of the village. Very eccentric, but very knowlegable. Friends with Tails and lives in a TARDIS unit) Selected Quote:
  8. It's probably time for another Observations, really...just need to find the time.

  9. A six?! This...virtual abomination deserves no less than a negative number so low it can be only expressed as an equation.
  10. Boom Sonic is one of the worst incarnations of Sonic we've ever, EVER seen, and that's in a world where Modern Sonic exists. He's just...he really is the true anti-Sonic, not in the sense that he's a generic evil incarnation but more that he's against everything that Sonic is supposed to be; he's lazy, he's selfish, he's not even all that skilled and he isn't adventurous. He'd rather sleep in a hammock all day and sell toys! What we were TOLD was more interesting; a version of the character that is an out-and-out adventurer, and one that has some issues with working in a team. It's interesting, it's logical and it furthers Sonic's character. So of course they took it out and made him pretty much his Modern counterpart but worse! Honestly, if that was what they WERE going for, that's what they should have done.
  11. Yeah, I've seen this. Nice to know there's a Sonic article out there that doesn't slag him off.
  12. I'm starting to wonder that myself...but probably not.
  13. No, but that hadn't exactly stopped every chancer trying to be funny from stating that.
  14. Must admit, not sure about the design. It feels very...basic. Lacking details. Like its problems with Boom has only helped the shift towards the non-detailed CLASSIC ONLY sorta thing.
  15. Call me paranoid, but I think the sheer amount of failure they've experienced over the past few years has...humbled them somewhat. They're still idiots and arrogant (not to mention extremely behind the times), however.
  16. And now they're sitting on a franchise with declining sales, inferior quality, a rabid fan base and a reputation so dire even Busby is shaking his head. And they wonder why no-one likes them.
  17. Okay, here's something I'm kind of surprised wasn't a thing for a while - review the last Sonic Boom episode you watched. Now for me, that isn't exactly a regular thing, the only reason I checked out the episode I'll talk about is because a lot of people said it was actually good. I still hate Sonic Boom, because I feel like the whole thing was geared up for one thing and then changed outright in the name of marketability and toy-shilling. But I do still check out the episodes of Season 2 every now and again. And this is what I'm going to do here. It's simple really; just list the general, spoiler-free synopsis of the episode, why you took an interest in it, the pros, the cons and a rating. For this specific thread, I will be using a Rating System using popular quotes from the franchise in general; the more badass the quote, the better the episode, and the more boorish the quote the worse the episode was. Here it is; +3: “No Copyright Law in the Universe is going to stop me!” +2: “As long as I can still strangle a Zeti, my hands are fine.” +1: “Aww Yeah, this is happen’!” 0: “Yosh~” -1: “That Tornado is Carrying a Car!” -2: “Bounce Pad!” -3: “GOTTA GO FAST OLOLOLOLOL” ...Okay that last one is probably a little off, but still. EPISODE: Give Bees a Chance Like I said, I only really watched this episode because it was said to be good. I certainly found it interesting, though - an episode written by Cindy Robinson, who obviously is more of an actor than a real writer, instead of a more...predictable choice like Ian Flynn. So I supposed I'd sit through it and see if Ms Robinson can write like she can act. As it turns out? She sort of can. Synopsis: After fighting off Eggman for the latest plot coupon, the Fregosi Sapphire, Amy finds a damaged but still ticking Bee Bot among the rubble. Having Tails fix and repair her, she and the robot become best friends, with Amy treating the robot like a pet. Pros: The Jokes. Seems Robinson can write better jokes than Flynn or any of the other writers on this show. They're still childish, sure, but they're a bit smarter and a bit funnier this time 'round, which is nice. Plus it's kind of funny to see the normally composed team run around screaming when they burn the cupcakes in the middle of the episode. This joke specifically. I dunno, it's kind of clever and kind of hilarious. It was the kind of fourth-wall, surreal comedy I WANTED to see from this series but alas never got. Also paints the picture that Sonic is actually a lot older than he wants to be and tries to act younger and hipper, and that's funny. Amy's relation with Bea. It's...surprisingly genuine, for what is shown. Thing is, not a lot of it is shown, owing to the whole "11 minutes" thing - we don't even see WHY Amy wants to revive the broken Bee Bot - but still, what they do show is surprisingly well-done. It's not GREAT, of course, but it's...good. For what it is. Eggman. Well, it's Boom Eggman. He's still funny. S'about all you can say, really. The bit with the Gogobas is mercifully short. Seriously, why do those things keep turning up? Knuckles' interactions with the Fregosi Sapphire. Short, very short, but very amusing too. In the same way Amy's interactions with Bea are good in that they're well-written, Knuckles taking care of the sapphire like a baby (complete with pouch) is good in that it's really funny. Cons: The Fregosi Sapphire itself. Seriously, just use the damn Chaos Emeralds already. You've already hinted at their potential existence seeing as Knuckles still comes from Angel Island, so there MUST be a Master Emerald. Also, it's a reference to a show (The Munsters and their Fregosi Emerald, if you must know) that no kid is going to get and no adult is going to sit through to see. Cindy Robinson's acting. Don't get me wrong, she's probably a nice person and very much a decent actor but be it SEGA's mandates or the character herself she just can't get a good grasp of it when Amy has to act emotional. Which, being Amy, is a regular thing. The moment the clinched it for me is when Bea is told to "play dead" and she promptly explodes - admittedly a funny scene - where Amy lets out the most awkward cry of anguish I've ever heard. It sounds like if someone stomped on a duck, it just didn't work. Same with the sad scenes - it can be hard to fake cry, trust me I've tried, but I still feel like another take was sort of needed. Rest of her acting was okay, though. Amy turns into an idiot in the middle of the episode. Like, I get it, sentimentality and all that but seriously she stops the group from fighting a horde of Buzzbombers - oh sorry, BeeBots - because one of them MIGHT be Bea, taking the Sapphire and allowing Eggman to put it in his Recycled No-Budget Model-Reuse Robot #280. It might be because I lack empathy, but...well, it was a BeeBot. There's millions of others she could have befriended. Also, she KNEW Eggman could recall the thing at any time, since she saw him try it. The only reason it didn't take was because Eggman didn't know his password. So...why not get Tails to remove that bit of code from the thing's memory? Or, I dunno, put a sticker on her or something? She KNEW Eggman could do it at any time...so why didn't she DO anything? This Line: "People have been complaining that I don't guard enough rare stones!" Uh...that's actually a legit problem with Knuckles' character. In ALL incarnations, not just the Boom version. It's just more galling seeing as its coming from Sonic Boom, which throughout season 2 has sort of been dusting off a lot of legit complaints and embarrassing circumstances with statements (not jokes, STATEMENTS) about how awful they are. It kind of made sense with mocking the use of "Blast Processing", seeing as its the most buzzwordy buzzword that's ever been buzzworded, but this is an actual problem with the character of Knuckles throughout the entire franchise - subverting what he's supposedly supposed to be for the sake of the story OR for the sake of comedy. And that's something a lot of people say you should never do. Overview: Turns out that, for someone who is primarily an actor, Cindy Robinson is actually pretty good at writing, too. It's not really all that great, I mean there aren't as many cons but I personally think they're very severe issues, but considering some of the pure trash I've seen from this show this is extremely satisfying. It's even an episode I might watch again! And again, that's no easy feat for this show. So...yeah. It's good. Check it out. Rating: +2: “As long as I can still strangle a Zeti, my hands are fine.” Well, that was my review. Got an episode of Sonic Boom you want to talk about? Well come on down and post about it right here!
  18. Completely start from scratch. A full reboot. No soft reboot, no tying the old world to the new one, not even a "new timeline". A full on, hard as rock reboot, right back to the beginning. Call it The New Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Refocus characters. While I'm all for multiple characters in Sonic...anything, I feel like a lot of the ones in the Archie comics are a bit unneeded and maybe a little too rushed. Therefore, the entire structure will need a massive overhaul. Remove a good amount of them to begin with, and focus on establishing the protagonists (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sally) first. THEN, once they're set up, introduce new characters into the stories. Not every one of them needs to be a hero or a villain or even related to the plot - a lot of them can be background characters to help give the world a feeling of actual life. And maybe NOT make them complete morons who openly show contempt for the guys trying to save their butts every week (COUGHsonicboomCOUGH). Refocus villains. Remove the God-Mode Eggman, perhaps even remove Eggman entirely, and focus on other, new villains with no plot armour. They could die at ANY time, and be replaced by someone worse, in a way that the reader hopes they DON'T die in fear of a new villain coming along who is worse rather than them knowing they WON'T die because SEGA breaks out in hives at the mere thought of it. The cast of villains should vary, not unlike Batman's ever popular Rogues Gallery. From the serious to the silly, from the bombastic to the subtle, from the funny to the truly terrifying. Darker and Edgier, with a comedic twist. A good story is a balance of light-hearted and dark-hearted. Make it too silly, you get Sonic Boom with its awful jokes, use of outdated memes, no story or character to speak of and patronising tone. Make it too gritty and you get Shadow the Hedgehog, which tries too hard to be edgy and comes across as childish and amateur for it. Therefore, while the overall tone will get more serious, comedic elements will still be a massive part of the series, to help break up the darker elements and prevent Darkness Induced Audience Apathy. A proper ratio I think would be 1/3 silly, 2/3 serious. Different Art Style. Don't get me wrong, I like Yardly's work fine, but it's overall style leaves a bit to be desired. It sort of feels like a comic version of modern kids film CGI - all colour and no detail, so everything looks A: like it's made out of plastic and B: the same. A better idea would be something a small bit grittier and a touch more stylised, with darker colours and more shadows. The lighter colours should obviously be there, we do NOT need a return to grey-brown desaturation, but the colours and style should fit the tone, being brighter in happier moments or darker in sadder moments. Perhaps then the art style could be used to create red herrings for the reader, making them think they know what they're going to get and then subverting it for dramatic or comedic effect. Adaptations good, Original Storylines better. One of the problems I had with the comics - and most Sonic media in general - is that a lot of them tried to adapt the video game stories and try to update them to make them better. The only problem is that a lot of these tend to be...awful, with some truly moronic changes. Like the Sonic X adaption of Adventure 2, which turned Chris into the catalyst for Shadow's Heel-Face Turn instead of Amy, or the same show's adaptation of Sonic Battle where Cream manages to defeat the superpowered Emerl...somehow. Or the Archie adaptation of Unleashed (which for some reason happens AFTER the events of Colours in the timeline) which turned the whole thing into a glorified fetch quest when the original game felt so much grander. So while adaptations will still be a thing, they will not be common. Instead, more original stories must be drafted, which can branch off existing stories but otherwise should be their own thing (like, say, a Bad Future for Sonic Lost World). Avoid anything Classic. This...goes without saying. Nostalgia should not be a crutch. NO MEMES. No Sanic, no & Knuckles, no Tails Doll, NOTHING. The Sonic franchise already has a reputation for cringe ta very much, the last thing we need is to allow it to live up to those pathetic stereotypes. Buckle mandates as much as possible. Fact of the matter is, the mandates that SEGA has in place strangled the last comic spectacularly, for their own corporate culture. But the thing is, a lot of those things that are shunned and prevented are almost necessary. Like a family, and a backstory, and emotions. Otherwise we're watching a showy invincible hero doing showy invincible things. And unless it's Superman, it's boring as hell and hard to care. Write new characters. Not a lot of them, but enough to balance the old cast with newer members so it doesn't get boring. Specifically, it would be best to avoid what this community calls Characters of the Day or something along those lines. This means that no characters like Chip or Yacker or arguably the Deadly Six, which have major importance in one story and then have no stake in anything else, thus fading into the backdrop or becoming fodder for party games. Characters that are designed do one thing and become worthless when that thing is done is wasteful, to say the least. We make new characters, we make them to stay. Like as said above, they could be siding with the good guys or the bad guys, or even just milling around the world doing their own things and dealing with their own problems. As long as they have SOME worth in the grand scheme of the plot, even if it is merely to serve the lore and colour the background a bit. Bring back old characters, but keep them grounded in their origins...mostly. In other words, the characters we do bring back should feel like they're actually the characters they were in the original thing, but updated. A good example of this would be one of my personal Archie bugbears, Breezie. Now, Breezie in the original AOSTH cartoon had a...nonstandard design, but she was a secret agent robot that defected from Eggman's control and gained proper emotions. That sounds interesting, and could potentially be built on. So...why is Archie!Breezie a corrupt, amoral, greedy AF business mongol who doesn't even vaguely resemble the original design?! I mean this is flying very close to the sun considering that this is SEGA and Archie we're talking about but come on. If a character from something out of left field is going to be added, even if it is something that most people did not care for, at the very least keep some of the elements the same...unless they didn't work in the first place. For characters like that (such as a certain Carrot Leggings), changes WILL need to be made, often drastic ones, for the greater good. It is, annoyingly, a complicated issue.
  19. I put my own opinions in this journal; http://masterperrymartin.deviantart.com/journal/Sonic-Forces-669463599 Also Swearing and Stuff
  20. [Alrighty then. I'm ready to Dash too. That means it's up to you, VHS.] "Got it! Caleb, hold on!" Mujha said, grabbing the man and hoisting him on her strong shoulders, "This will be an extremely bumpy ride!" And, with a clomp of her heavy boots, Mujha rushed out into the crowds at full sprint towards the escaping offenders. Things were a blur, and Mujha did not even have the time to register them, as she weaved and dodged her way through the crowd. At times she even considered merely shoulder-dashing through the confused patrons to get at these people, but she knew this could not be the case; Mujha was strong, but Caleb was tall, and the combined balance issues caused Mujha to struggle with weaving through the crowds. She knew if he fell off, the opportunity to catch these...things would be lost. And she was not about to let that happen. Not when they tried to attack her for something as simple as saying hello. Not when this was her fault. The mad dash continued, with Mujha rushing through the market, holding tightly onto Caleb's legs as he clutched onto his spellbook and Mujha's right hand in response. The market was busy, bustling, festooned with a number of people all going about their daily business buying and selling and eating their gains like so many others. Again, Mujha did not have time to stop, so she simply and quickly leaped up onto someone's wheelbarrow, soaring over the crowds and landing on the other end of a large crowd. This almost threw Caleb off, but Mujha took a sharp turn left into a quieter part of the crowds that swung him back upright. Finally, the clomping of Mujha's boots increased in intensity and volume as she made one last push towards the would-be escapees, rushing to the point that she was clearly behind them. "Hurry..." Mujha panted, "I am running out of energy, I cannot keep this up for long. Caleb! Now is your chance!"
  21. So, this is a topic I wanted to bring up for a good long while. As we know, remasters and remakes are all the rage these days; remasters are popping out of every possible place they can, remakes of older, popular games are also becoming a thing and even Activision has gone on to exploit them to such a disgusting degree I wish they weren't in business anymore. So they MUST have gone mainstream. Regardless, this is something that Sonic hasn't exactly been privy to; we've had the re-releases of the Adventure games and the endless ports of the first game like it's the best Sonic game ever made (it isn't. That's arguably Sonic 3...or Generations...or Mania. Maybe). Yes the first two games and CD got remakes, but they're IOS only for some stupid reason. So I was wondering...what games do you guys think could do with a remaster, remake or sequel? Here are mine, for reference; Sonic Shuffle (Remake): It is a testament to SEGA's complete and eternal stupidity that they managed to screw this game up. It should NOT be that hard; you want to make a clone of Mario Party? Fine. MAKE MARIO PARTY...and stick Sonic in it! But no, we need cards and a strange story and cheatsy AI that makes it just more snark bait in a franchise full of the stuff. If they made it more...logically and I guess fitting with the standards, it'd be better. Besides, no-one likes Mario Party since 9 'cause they removed the whole party bit, so perhaps SEGA could step in and fill that niche. They'd have to call it something other than Sonic Shuffle 2 or Sonic Party, though. Sonic 06 (Reinterpretation): Yeah, this one was kind of obvious. Unlike...ANOTHER rushed out awful game (COUGHRiseofLyricCOUGH), 06 has some potential to be...good. At least. If it was remade with more modern standards and a VERY rewritten story that doesn't take itself quite as seriously, perhaps then we'd get somewhere. At least make it so that Elise isn't a worse version of Princess Peach and...THAT scene doesn't happen. Perhaps have it that some new characters enter this broken timeline and try to make the events play out in a smoother and more logical manner. Basically improve 06 by making a PARODY of it. For example, take this scene after beating Silver before Radical Train; *Silver screams and and runs towards the character, freezing mid-punch* Character 1: Huh. I thought you said you didn't know Chaos Control. Character 2: I don't...he's still loading (points to the LOADING graphics at the bottome of the screen near Silver's feet) See? That'd be funny...sort of. Hell, Generations proved that a decent 06 IS possible and it CAN be well-designed and good. If anything else, SEGA just shouldn't pretend it never existed. It should LEARN from these mistakes...otherwise it'd repeat its mistakes all over again. Which it did. Sonic Adventure 2 (Sequel/Remake): Sonic Adventure 2. Great game, great story, but aged so poorly even my Gamecube copy has a beard growing on the disc. Imagine if they remade it with more...modern conventions. Sonic and Shadow's gameplay? Make it the Hedgehog Engine gameplay? Tails and Eggman? Make it a DOOM 2016 style shooter. Knuckles and Rouge? Well there's this little company called Platinum Games...all aside, SA2 needs an update to more modern standards, because one of the few great Sonic classics doesn't deserve to be left in the dust 'cause "it's old". Sonic Rush (Sequel): Whatever happened to the Sonic Rush games? Well...SEGA happened, we know that, but still I think the series needs another chance. A lot better than just making, no FORCING Dimps to make inferior versions of the home console games like Lost World and especially Generations on the 3DS. Make 'em make a game where they know what to do. Perhaps we could get some better closure about Blaze's world or her family. Sonic Rivals (Sequel): Anyone remember Sonic Rivals? That...strange little racing game where the plot revolved around cards? Story was...pretty dumb, but the gameplay has a good amount of promise. Like, a little downloadable party game on Steam or something, something to play at like a party with some drunk friends or something. That'd be pretty cool. Lost World (Sequel/Spin-Off): Now...don't get me wrong. Lost World is not a good game. It's gameplay is dumb, its characters are poorly written and the story is THE worst in a Sonic game to date. It's just too many freaking copouts for what could've been mature, game-changing stuff. It's the Freedom Planet of Sonic stories! So, when I say a sequel, I don't mean a game with similar gameplay or a direct contintuation of the original story. I mean more of...a What If? type of story. What If; The Deadly Six really were destoryed and whittled down to just Zavok? Eggman's plan to drain and remold the world worked and he now controlled it fully? Amy and Knuckles were both dead, never to return because of having their souls drained out? Sonic was captured by Eggman, depowered, transformed and forced to live a pathetic life under his regime in his new world? Like, a female burger fool in the captial city. Tails just didn't invent an ability to reprogram the robo thing with his tails and Zonmom's toothpick? I mean I don't understand when did Tails ever have this ability I mean he could fly using his tails but at what point was it made clear he had control over them to an extent he could just use a toothpick to reprogram a computer just out of the blue 'cause SEGA can't sell lunchboxe[f fpj/asofknhxcgnggngv AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-*static* Ahem. What I mean is a story that follows in a supposed "Bad Ending" of Lost World and makes tells its own story using that as a backdrop. A proper Sonic Resistence, if you will. Storybook Game (...Just another one): Great idea, AWFUL games. Don't get me wrong, Secret Rings is the utter worst Sonic game ever to me, worse than 06 or RoL. At least in those games going forward isn't a hassle. But the IDEA is great! Secret Rings screwed it up impresively, but what about Black Knight. Great idea, very mediocre execution, and they stopped as a result. Perhaps one more attempt could be done, in another setting. Have a cowboy setting, make Sonic and co all cowboys, give 'em guns! Bit like Cowboys of Moo Mesa...anyone remember that show. I don't. Also could we get a game based on SATAM, plz? Ta. Welp, that's what I've got. I've also got plans for a sequel to that RPG on the DS, but...yeah that's never going to happen while Penders is still breathing. Otherwise, thoughts?
  22. So...nothing's been said, yet? Well, I guess I better lay out my opinions on Mania; I think it will be great. It's not like the guys behind this have the same neurotic absentmindesness as SEGA does, and I fully agree it looks like funtime breakfast. HOWEVER...I think the whole retro angle again is just getting cynical. Oh, and for some reason a lot of people on DeviantART have put up these really idiotic image macros that say Mania will fail and that we're all sheeple/morons/what have you for thinking it might be good. I'm sorry, but there's no Sonic Cycle with this one; I'm not expecting it to rock my world, as it were, but there is a decent amount of evidence that it WILL be good. There's no Sonic Team or Big Red Button anywhere near this project...but there IS a SEGA...
