  1. Glad to see you on here Cheese, you know if you have any questions regarding Sonic, I can probably answer them all. XP
  2. ....yeah, it's online and always has been online. Just like the Sonic Hacking Contest.
  3. Here we are again, September 5th is when SAGE 2020 hits it out of the park! It's looking very good this year too, so let us know what you guys think when this year's SAGE drops.
  4. I have yet to play Diablo II, but I do have it. Same goes for Diablo I. Now regarding Roguelikes...ohh boy... I've played quite a bit of them, Enter the Gungeon for one. Fun game, it's like Zombies at My Neighbors meets a bullet hell shmup. Fun stuff. Then there's Binding of Isaac, the original and remake. Which I played so much back then I can never really play again. I just can't, not because it's a bad game but because I got completely burnt out by it. Then there's the roguelike platformer Spelunky, which I've never beaten. Love the genre despite the difficulty, and I can't wait to check out Monolith when I have the chance.
  5. Got some cool stuff here, Craig Stitt (worked on Sonic 2) on Facebook revealed his concept art for the rumored turtle sidekick. Meet Boom Boom the Turtle! Yes, that's what it says in the concept art. I just call him Boom the Turtle. During Sonic 2's development, there was an internal contest to design Sonic's new sidekick, this character was Craig's proposal. However, he was rejected as Tails won out. The rest is history, but at long last another forgotten character has been resurfaced.
  6. And that's why Rotor was so pushed to the wayside after Season 1. He was in Season 2, but for odd reasons (and possible dislike from a producer if I recall) was glossed over. After the 50 Issue mark (and probably before that), Rotor was made to be completely irrelevant with Uncle Chuck now a mainstay in Knothole, then we got Nate Morgan, and Tommy Turtle, and then Tails. They treated technology as "basically" all the same thing, despite that not being true at all. They didn't even bother to kill him off like how they tried to with Sally, he just lingered in the background forever. You could argue they tried to rectify that with Rotor after the Reboot, that wasn't really Rotor as he changed the most alongside Sally compared to his original self. Second only to Porker Lewis, Rotor is the most ignored character in this entire series. Come to think of it, that brings up a got question... How would you handle Rotor Walrus as a character and how would you keep him relevant?
  7. Yes and Yes. Considering you do see the Super Emeralds (albeit presumably used up...for now) in Sonic Mania, then yeah I'd highly consider them canon. I mean you could make arguments on "Why didn't Sonic use them in SA1, SA2, etc." but considering the Hyper Form wasn't in those games, I suppose you could say that it wasn't needed in those (highly dangerous) situations. That itself raises further, more interesting questions. Considering that the Master Emerald presumably made the Chaos Emeralds into Super Emeralds, could that imply that the M.E. is somehow sentient and knew it was in danger? Hence why the Emeralds were powered up? In that case, if so many other threats didn't need the Super Emeralds, what kind of terrifying threat would actually need them? That makes it interesting! People would actually like to know those answers, and try to figure them out...if Sega would actually just roll with it rather than hold it down. Also I'd recommend GA's other videos regarding Super Tails and Hyper Knuckles. Just a reminder, Tails needed all 14 Emeralds to go Super, Knuckles can go Super and Hyper like Sonic can. They just don't bank on any of this! Heck, because of gameplay reasons, we finally have Super Forms for all the playable characters in Sonic Mania, including Tails (with the Chaos Emeralds this time), Mighty, and even Ray! This shouldn't be hard, and if a different color of fur is needed then heck that should be easy too! It really can be frustrating to be a fan, but I still love this series despite all that. In any case, if I have a question I'll post one.
  8. I love that picture, the dude worked on that for months, if not over a year. I can't give him enough props for it.
  9. Where do I start? I'd like to see Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons get the same treatment Link's Awakening got recently. Same goes for Kirby's Dream Land 2 as that was suppose to have a GBC update years ago, but never got made. May I also mention how long I've wanted a Metroid Fusion Remake? Because it deserves one. Considering how eerie that setting is. I should mention that there are two, separate fan games in the works that are remaking Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble in the style of of the 16-bit games. But I would like to see the same treatment done for the Master System/Game Gear versions of Sonic 1 and 2, the latter being an entirely separate game. There's any of the original Game Boy games of Mega Man, specifically Mega Man V with the Stardroids (Whose Manga adaption of the game is one of the best adaptions of any game ever), and I'd love to see something similar to the HD Remake of Rayforce, only for Thunder Force V. Honestly, there are like a ton more. As for demake ports, it's hard for me to say. Although I would like M2 to remake Space Harrier II as they originally wanted to do so for the Sega Arcade Board used to remake Fantasy Zone II. I hope they can do that one day, if they still want to. If I can think of any more I can post some more on here.
  10. Also, if I may add, a Metal Sonic game. I mean that alone would be awesome, either one that's an interquel between SA2 and Heroes, or one where he's being replaced by a new Sonic Robot and rebels. Lastly (for now) the one game I'd want more than any other is a 3D Sonic game that has physics and controls just like the Classic games. The levels are in 3D and everything, it can be done! Demos like Sonic Utopia show it's possible. For a full game as close to the experience as possible, look up Sonic Robo Blast 2. You won't regret it. Also, if an Adventure Remake were to have a feel like that, it'd be ideal. At least to me anyway.
  11. @TheRedStranger I'd like to point out that in the above collection, the devs who ported it made brand new retro games/ports of older and existing games (Galpus and Pac-Man Championship Edition). M2 has been doing this lately since the Sega Genesis Mini with their ports of Tetris and Darius. It seems to me that with mostly every re-release, we now have new added content kinda like DLC as you alluded too. Speaking of bug fixes, the Aladdin/The Lion King Pack that came out last year has a Final Mix version of Aladdin with said bug fixes. The Kunio & Double Dragon Collection also has updated versions of their NES games that run a lot better compared to the originals too. From what's been going on in gaming lately, there has been this great resurgence that doesn't just package retro games or games based off such classics. Rather, we're getting new experiences alongside classics from developers that go above and beyond to give the fans more. No one asked for a new Port that's a bit more accurate to the arcade versions of Gradius and Salamander on the TurboGrafx-16 Mini, yet here we are.
  12. Well, Sonic X-treme for one. Granted, I don't think it would have been received well had it been given a chance to actually be developed, but it could have changed a few things down the line in the series history. A 3rd Sonic Rush game, it'd be nice to play as Blaze again. Maybe even add a 3rd new character they have to contend with. Rise of Lyric, if it was never forced upon the Wii U. To remind you guys, it was suppose to be developed and run on the Crytek Engine. Probably could have made the best looking Sonic game to date, and not limit the devs with poor hardware. Sonic 4, a real one. That didn't end up being an episodic budget title. I'm not talking like one for the Saturn as Sonic Team just did whatever during that time or something like Sonic Mania. I mean like something along the lines of Crash 4 or Mega Man 11. Great, 3D graphics, but the same classic gameplay. Nothing like what we got with Generations or Forces on how Classic gameplay felt like a Game Gear game, I mean like legit momentum that would feel the same as Mania. Spin offs, legit games starring other characters. Shadow, Tails, and Knuckles need another good shot. However Blaze, Silver, and Mighty & Ray deserve a shot in the limelight as well. Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Remakes, something along the lines of what FFVIIR is doing. Matter of fact, along with the proposed Sonic 4, use those to Reboot the whole series. No more of that confusing and separatist Classic/Modern Eras. Keep it one world too, Stop trying to make two half baked worlds and just focus on one. Last but not least, a Mobius based game. I am so sick of seeing how this series can apparently only have one direction in how it's handled (thankfully the movie series can do it's own thing). A ton of different series have had co-existing, different canons and continuities, why can't Sonic? Have a Mobius based series if games kinda like how Mega Man has Mega Man X. Spread that divergence to shows and comics too. People can handle it, and kids will just like the fact it's about a blue hedgehog. We can have a Sega Sonic and Mobius Sonic exist at the same time, that way fans can pick which one they like and try out the other. Boom had the right idea, but it was executed horribly. I do have a few game concepts and ideas for Sonic games jolted around here and there myself, mainly because I just love the series that much. Don't really share them though, but I hope to change that in the near future. If you guys are interested let me know.
  13. Already did, and asked the question. XP How would you do it though Wolfsbane? Seriously, just about anything would be an approvement.
  14. Thing is with Adventure Time, while it was an overall decent show, the way it was managed lead to a wave of changes throughout Animation as a whole...and not for the better. The fact Adventure Time actually got enough seasons as it is was pretty amazing, as a good majority of staff were new and fresh out of college. Then they started to hire artists off of Tumblr, literally. There are a lot of jokes that can be made, but it lead to Rebecca Sugar being hired for the show. Basically, the effect of the show lead to the creation of Steven Universe. Then, staff who worked on one or both shows lead to others being hired off of them to make their own cartoons (examples like Star vs. the Forces of Evil, to the abysmal Thundercats Roar). It's been said that there's a lot of nepotism around a bunch of these shows, and we're managed rather poorly. Yet still somehow managed to release episodes, Steven Universe I know had a bunch of time to make and release episodes. We're talking like months apart, which wouldn't fly back in the day. Regular Show and Gumball, while having a few odds and ends in production of episodes, were stark exceptions compared to those above. I'd say they were the best cartoons to come out of that time on Cartoon Network. After them, I dropped out of watching cartoons on TV entirely. While there are a few goods shows like the DuckTales reboot, I'd say Western Cartoons were damaged in the long run. You can trace the history of bad choices back to CN Real because of it. Other than a few shows and DC Animated releases, there's not too much to look forward to. Sorry to sound negative, but it's pretty crazy what's happened in the past decade. The late 2000's to early 2010's was the swan song to cartoons on cable/satellite.
  15. @TheRedStranger That sounds way better than what we got. Heck, Eggman could have done something like make it a supposed "wonder drug" as Mr. Tinker that give them great effects, only to be highly addictive and slowly turn them into his own personal Army. Like a drug form of Robotization. I mean Zombots are basically pesudo Robians so there's that. Another way is to play up the Eldritch aspect, but tone down the OP qualities so that they aren't too powerful. An idea in mind is how some SCPs work like the Red Disk one with it's monsters and those of When Day Breaks. Have it so that you need an open cut/wound, not to mention eyes and such in order to be infected. Not to mention still retain a level of sentience that asks/begs their friends and loved ones to join them. Lastly, you could also make it have an AI of sorts, one that goes out of hand. There's a lot you could do with the concept (aside from changing that awful Zombot and generic Metal Virus name), but I think they really botched this arc. I'm just glad it'll be over soon.
  16. @TheRedStranger We were talking about Hank the other day regarding the 4th theory. I'm under the suspicion that the 3rd Theory regarding Peggy is why she's like that.
  17. So far, there have been no other Sonic prototypes released from what I can tell. Although I could go into detail on the major highlights for the betas we got last year.
  18. Episode 1 is out now and everyone should watch...er, listen to this! If you loved the Adventure Series you'll feel right at home, even Shadow's original VA returns to voice Knuckles! This is exactly what I've wanted to see in Sonic for years, not just voice acting but in the tone and characters of the story. You guys need to check this out, it's a *great* first impression.
  19. The Namcot Collection is being released world wide as Namco Museum Archives Vol. 1 and 2. For Clarification, these are the console NES Namco games
  20. I'm very familiar with Sonic ROM Hacks, been playing them as far back as Sonic Gaiden (which is just Sonic 1 with Sonic and Mighty playable) and the 3rd version of Sonic 1 Megamix when that came out way back when in around 2007 or so. I even joined one of the sites where you would find these rom hacks, yet sadly I've never dabbled in making one (horrible) rom hack myself. I have however beta tested The S Factor: Sonia & Silver for it's creator, GrandMasterGalvatron/Aqualash many years ago. The last version of it being pretty much the same one that came out eventually. I'm not all for Joke Hacks, but do have a lot of them too. That Sonic EXE Hack is probably the only redeeming thing I've seen of the Sonic.EXE concept. Most fan games of that are mainly average or not worth your time. Also, Sonia's outfit in the hack is far different from the show due to palette limitations regarding the Genesis hardware. I'm sad that Sonic 1 Brother Trouble was never completed, but that's the thing regarding ROM Hacks. Much like Fan Games, you are never guaranteed a completed game. Sonic 1 Megamix is also the hack that Stealth worked on, which lead to him along with Taxman (Christian Whitehead) eventually developing Sonic Mania. Which I may remind you, Sonic Mania was made by fans who have a history in making hacks, fan games, and music. It's why I hold Mania in such high regard along with it being a very good game. So yeah, any of these top 20 Hacks in that video I'd highly recommend. There are always new ones being made so check out sites like Sonic Retro and Sonichacking for more of them.
  21. Since I made a topic for fan animations, I thought it'd fit to have one for fan music based on Sonic and remixes. I'll start off with one, something from EmuEmi which is a really cool mix of Believe in Myself. Kind of like a sequel song to Believe in Myself if Tails character wasn't ruined by Forces.
  22. Hi everyone, hope you all are enjoying the hype that is Streets of Rage 4. I heard rumors about there being DLC for the game as well, which I'd so get if that's the case. Anyway, I got news of a new collection from SNK regarding one of it's (many) great fighting game series, check it out!
  23. Sonic helps out Pac-Man in celebrating his 40th Anniversary!
